@Truseeker: Just clarifying what DM Blog took as "disrespectful" so you get the right idea here.
I was listing off reasons why BYOND Journalism is better on the Live Cast, that they were already established, had a larger community, and were run by "actual people" by which I meant familiar faces that have established a reputation and everyone that frequents BYOND's community knows them. Akto didn't get what I meant and said, "wait- what are they soul-less people?!" and I replied sarcastically "Yes, they're soul-less people." Maybe my sarcasm wasn't strong enough? I don't know, but me and Bravo got the joke pretty easily.

Is that all?

That'd be a part I'd laugh at. Knowing Akto and the BYONDcast team's humorous sarcasm, I'm sure it was a joke.

Not to mention how it was the biggest waste of 18$ in BYOND history along with your snickering. :)

Forum, how can you just jump to conclusions like that? Our goal was never "Hey, DMCast/Journalism seem popular, lets try and trump it!" We made DMBlog because we were bored and wanted to provide the community with something new and unique. Who the hell are you to tell us our content is crappy? If people are appreciating it, why not let it go? Are you gonna repeat the same thing on our future content? If you don't like it just don't read.

The conclusion is based on things you've said. The underlined sentence says you want to do something different. You don't want your content to be like BYOND Journalism's content. You don't want to fit in. You intentionally interview people only you (or a small group of people) care about. People will call that crap because to most people, it is. If you just wanted to do your own thing and have a blog for your own satisfaction, none of this stuff would have bothered you, but it did. This indicates that you really do want a wider audience to appreciate your blog. It's hard to do your own thing and have people appreciate it. If that's what you want, you'll need to work at it.
Is there any rule that we have to fit in with Journalism? EG said it's no problem unless our content is similar in the future, which probably won't be the case.

If people don't like the content, just let them not like it, no need for stupid comments (that's causing the bother <.) Some people actually like hearing unknown people's thoughts and views rather than the same famous person. Why not let it go already? What's done is done. *sigh* (btw, I don't care about what people think, I'm just majorly bored, one of the reasons I started this with Tyga, that's why I'm arguing, and we don't aim to accomplish anything huge with this.)

We obviously will appreciate if people like it, but our objective isn't to get EVERYONE to like it so yeah.

Don't bother, they won't understand.

Yes, just presume we're wrong. Atleast it will stop now.
We should stop using Journalism as some sort of standard for every other blog to live up to. It's only seen as one now because it was the only blog of it's kind we had at the time so there was nothing to compare it to. But, just like most things on BYOND, it was exciting and fun in the beginning but eventually people lost interest and it died off.

If anything, we should be telling them to be better than Journalism rather than trying to force them to be exactly like it. Besides, you can't make everyone happy either way it goes. If you can recall back to when Journalism first started, there were several complaints about some of the content that was being submitted. You talk as if everyone will magically enjoy the articles and interviews if it's on Journalism, but it'll magically be crap if it's anywhere else. I think that's BS.

"I don't like the person" or "I'm not interested in that persons game" is not a valid complaint. That's like saying a news reporter sucks because they report things you couldn't care less about. The content is to be judged by it's quality. If the interviews are poorly presented, or the grammar is atrocious, or if it was just made to incite flame wars ( like my GMD interview ), then yes, it "sucks". But if your only complaint is that "the people you're interviewing are irrelevant in my opinion", that's not good enough.

They don't have to be the same, but by being completely separate there's no way to establish any kind of standard for anyone to live up to. For any criticism they get, they have the excuse of "we're different, we're doing what we want". They can be separate and try to be better than BYOND Journalism, but that doesn't appear to be what they're doing.

If anything, we should be telling them to be better than Journalism rather than trying to force them to be exactly like it.

In the best interest of making BYOND better and improving our collective skill at BYOND game development or "BYOND game development journalism" (who knew that was a thing?), they should try to be one of those things - either like* BYOND Journalism or better. I just don't see this happening. If every creation made by a BYOND user was equal to or better than an existing creation, BYOND would get better over time.

If they don't want to try to improve on what's already been done, that's perfectly fine. They're allowed to do that and nobody is trying to stop them. If they're doing something that doesn't help BYOND then people will make fun of them. That's just how it works.

* "like" means "of a similar level of quality" there, not that the content itself is similar.
I just made a very unprofessional video response. I am going to work on getting that up...
You know, this whole uploading thing is taking longer than it should... still stuck on publishing on youtube...
Bravo joined the team? (His name is added to the Contact Us list.)

Also, is Fugsnarf leaving?
Yes, I'm part of the team now, apparently they liked having me in the show enough that they let me stay. (Yay!)

And yes, unfortunately Fugsnarf is leaving us for school I believe, I can't remember exactly what though, most probably college.
Yo, lemme get on a livecast sometime in the future. I have the perfect voice (and face) for radio!
