Well, it's not like all immigrants dont pay any taxes. They pay taxes when they pay a sales tax and other small taxes like that. Deporting every single person is just silly because it will just never happen. Also if these people dont pick fruit and stuff like that, American people will get payed higher and that means more expensive fruit and vegetables and whatever else they work in. The reason most of them don't become a citizen the legal way is beacuse sometimes it can take more than like 5 years.

complete deportation would never happen anywaqy... because people like GITS wouldn't know what to do if the local shopping centers/gas stations/corner 7-11's all closed up because the cheap labor left the country.

Tolerance for illegal aliens is a slap in the face to every legal immigrant who has actually taken the trouble to navigate through the naturalization process.
On the other hand, the illegal aliens have, by virtue of getting here, already demonstrated that they are willing to work and take risks to improve their futures and their families' futures. In that sense, they're already better Americans than a lot of Americans. And on the third hand, if it's still possible for large numbers of Mexicans to get across the border illegally, then how can we have any confidence that it isn't also possible for less desirable groups, like terrorists or Canadians? | |

Illegals have to go, and amnesty is not acceptable, simply because we have legal immigrants going about things the right way who are asked to jump through thousands of hoops to achieve citizenship. It is a disservice to them to treat them with less courtesy and more bureaucracy than people who simply hop a fence. I'm all for increasing legal immigration quotas, but I'm also all for throwing out the illegals.
Another big problem with illegal aliens is they don't assimilate. It's not that anyone's expected to leave all their heritage behind or anything, but it's kind of telling that most immigrant groups who came in legally chose to learn English and become part of the community around them. They kept a lot of their traditions and many still spoke their previous language as well, but they also understood they were part of something beyond their own ethnic group. Latin illegals have tended not to do that, mostly because they're illegal immigrants and have no real stake in getting citizenship. Europe is facing a much much worse problem with assimilation and that's with their legal immigrants. The main reason it's a problem is that in the name of multiculturalism, they let it become one. The main problem is that most of those immigrants are from Muslim nations and brought the worst aspects of their culture with them. It's gotten to the point that in some neighborhoods (in every country in the EU, mind you), even girls who aren't Muslim find themselves having to radicall modify the way they dress or risk getting attacked by teenage gang rapists. One of the morals of this story is that assimilation is a good thing. One other minor note: Right now a group of illegal immigrants is suing a homeowner's association for trying to get them to stop peddling for odd jobs in the neighborhood, saying this violates their constitutional rights. Problem is, if they're not in the country legally, they have no constitutional rights. This group should be deported immediately, preferably to some place they don't even come from. | |
