So. Babies get implants that track them. Discuss.

Pro's:
- In cases such as kidnap or running away, parents could call certain services such as 911 to find the location of the child and/or send police to obtain said child.

- It's harmless, implanted in the back of the neck or shoulder between the ages of 2 - 6 months (Probably wrong on those numbers), and cannot be felt. Most are pretty small.

- I'm not sure if any are available at the moment, but I heard that there is an announcement about someone in The House of Representatives wanting to pass a bill in 2014 concerning it.

Con's:
- If a criminal or "bad person" got ahold of certain codes and such to the transmitter, they could use a device such as a GPS locater commingly used in cars and phones to track your child/teenager at all times. Creeeper.

- It stays with them for their whole life, even though most claim to have an expiration date of 35 years or so.

Various websites say different things, so don't take my word as holy water from the mouth of Jesus. But, really, would you do this for your kid?
Would I do this to my kid? No.

Am I against people doing this to their own kid? No.
Not my boys. I wasn't raised with a computer chip in my neck. My parents did just fine >:D
- It stays with them for their whole life, even though most claim to have an expiration date of 35 years or so.

There's such a thing as privacy. The expiration date should be at most 10 years, and the chip should be easily removable at all times. If this isn't possible, implementing the chip in a child is downright immoral. I can't think of a single 35 year old who'd be okay with his parents knowing what he's doing 24/7.

The 35 year version could be used for dangerous criminals.
Some of the chips that claim to be "Bi-functional" are, in the sense, able to switch ownership of the codes and access to your location from your parents to yourself when you become 18. From there, you can give them to whoever you want.
I'm just glad I don't have one. If you wanna do this to your child, I don't really care. They're harmless as far as I can tell. At the same time, I didn't need one and I turned out all right.

It's ridiculous to call them the mark of the beast. You can't even see them, can you?
Hardly comforting and still ridiculous, due to:

- If a criminal or "bad person" got ahold of certain codes and such to the transmitter, they could use a device such as a GPS locater commingly used in cars and phones to track your child/teenager at all times. Creeeper.

Among other reasons.

You should be able to completely remove the chips from yourself at will, at any age, and by age 13 (if not earlier) the child should be explicitly made aware of this. The prospect of switching codes is risky and silly.
On some of the larger ones, they are visible. And codes can be changed easily every few months if needed.
That's still absurd to call it the "mark of the beast".
I do not call it that. Just some overly-religious people who take it as something from the bible, of which the mark of the beast on the forehead or right hand that is used to buy or sell and you cannot do either without it.

It's just a question, not what I personally think.
Hell no. Big brother isn't watching me or my kids.

I'm overly religious, but those people don't have brains.
No, the Mark of the Beast sparked when people started wearing beanies with the Monster logo on it (joke, but not really).

Honestly, this is immoral. Privacy is completely shattered. While crime rates would likely drop significantly, people's freedom is also tarnished in the process. Screw that.
Something tells me it won't catch on, as most people seem to have a natural fear or distrust of the idea.
Some hospitals outside of the U.S. offer them. Again, my word is not holy water, but I don't think it's a rumor. I'm sure that somewhere, right now, there are people with chips in 'em. Wether it's for GPS'ing your children or for Human Terminators or the Anti-Christ, I'm pretty sure that they are out there.

Why the nays? Then again, I was too lazy to put out any signifigant points. I'm sorry if I offended you?
This is very old news. I was having discussions about VeriChip and Digital Angel with people back in like 4th grade.

But yeah, a while ago I heard some hospital either made or was planning on making these mandatory for their employees. And yes, people do already have chips in them. Right now, it's just being used for convenience, like to buy your way into a club without having to carry a purse or wallet. Just scan and go basically. In the near future, it's going to serve a much larger purpose.

I don't see why that is ridiculous. Things in the bible aren't always meant to be taken literally. The "mark" doesn't necessarily have to be some sort of tattoo that's going to be branded onto you. It could very well be a tiny piece of technology. It is extremely easy to make purchases with this, and consequently, easy to control who can buy, sell, and trade. I believe our paper dollars and coins will eventually become obsolete just like everything else. Prescriptions, medical records, grades in childrens schools - it's all being computerized and so will currency.

The pros to this outweigh the cons. Convenience, safety, criminal control, the list goes on. Which is why the world will eventually come to accept it just like they accept homosexuals, and divorce, and murder, and everything else God said NOT to accept.

[Edit] Also, no you can't see them nor remove them. The chip is red and guess what? So is your blood. Which is funny, because the Bible states that once you accept the mark, there is no changing your mind about it and you won't be forgiven. I see a connection here.
Its called moving forward as a race. Old bigotry will die eventually. Why does an all powerful creator care what two people do in their bedroom? It seems to me it would need to get its priorities straight. How about helping the starving?

As far as divorce, surely you wouldn't want a women to be forced to stay in a marriage with an abusive husband.Or the less common vice-versa situation.

By murder, if you mean you are against capital punishment, I agree their.

I don't know, could it be because he let heathens nail his son to a cross so that people like us could be forgiven for our sins? Since you brought up the topic of starving children, let's use them for an example: How would you feel if you used all the money in your savings account to provide food and shelter for someone and in return, they spit in your face, kick you between the legs, and tell you to fuck off? That's basically what people are doing to God - ignoring the fact that he did something incredibly generous and giving him blasphemy and ridicule in return.

No. I would expect people who vow "death do us part" to take their promise seriously. But in today's world, people couldn't care less about their word. There used to be a time where when someone said they would do something for you, they would really do it and would be terribly ashamed if they didn't. That's far from the case today. We have people getting married and divorced within 6 months - and over stupid things. The same people who say "For better or worse" are the same people who are signing that dotted line on the divorce form because their spouse has become disabled or lost their job. I would know since my Dad's first wife divorced him after he was diagnosed with arthritis and scoliosis and couldn't work. People these days are pathetic.
I would do this to my kid, Why? I prepare for the worst. If my child is ever abducted or missing this could save their life.

That's just me though, I'm not going to suggest that others should do it, but, there's obvious benefits with very little drawback.
