According to a friend of mine who got this information from a very reliable source (His cousin), who apparently is a guru of Final Fantasy and related subjects.
SqaureEnix has decided to make their own console, they could very well do this since they are very very rich. APPARENTLY The Playstation3 will not be good enough to handle the remake of Final Fantasy 7 (we've all seen the trailer) And I'm not surprised, according to my friend they are going to remake every final fantasy game improving them in everyway and releasing them on their own system. Now I don't wanna get my hopes up about this because its purely a rumor (as of yet) but what do you all think of this? SqaureEnix know they have the fans and market for all of this so I think theres a chance of it happenning.

Sounds fake... Even if it's true, I don't care Square Enix is dead to me. I don't like traditional, turnbased RPGs, or Final Fantasy... The only interest I have in them is KH.

Well even if you don't like FF games I'm sure they will licence other game companies to make game for them. I mean, if they create a rival console better than the PS3, sony will have their work cut out for them.

That might be true, but as it is I don't have any interest in the PS3 either, or this rumored console... I only want a Wii/Revolution.

I dunno if I will have any interest in the Wii/Rev, nintendo have lost their abilities to produce good games. I can only think of a handful of good games that were released on the GC. Unless nintedo shape up they are gonna be left behind in the race for the next gen-console.

I like what Nintendo's been doing, and I think the Wii/revolution will be great, that and it's controller fascinates me heavily, and so does the virtual console thing.

The controller looks like a remote control, although somebody told me they will release a thing that clips onto the remote that lets you use it like a normalish control pad?

Wikipedia to the rescue, for that... and the remote thing mainly interests me for games where you use swords. And light-gun games, and surely other innovative... but as of now, not coming to me ideas with it, And yeah there'll be shells you can put over the remote, AND retain the remotes functionality.

I'm not really interested at all, I'm mainly looking forward to the PS3. And the xbox360 isn't really that special yet, unless they do something big with it, I'll ignore it.

The thing was a TECH DEMO, showing what it would look like IF they made FF7 on the PS3. It even said "PLAYSTATION3 TECH DEMO" in the corner of the screen. Unless there is some very recent news saying they ARE remaking it from a reliable source, (not a ps3 fanboy site, or relative, mind you) then don't expect a remake. Sorry for sounding crude there, but I saw the trailer like a year ago, and I have yet to hear of a real remake in the works. | |

They did a reshowing of the tech demo and removed the words "tech demo" from the trailer. Once SqaureEnix got the massive fan outbreak over the trailer they decided they really would remake it. They also relised how much of a huge market there was for it.
