Four days ago I finally received the Roku that I previously talked about, it costed me around eighty bucks and I have to say that it was worth the money and shipping time. The set up to my wireless router was simple, all I had to do was enter a couple activation codes and I was set as well as link my Roku player. What was great about Roku was that it offered me free channels such as a free internet radio application called Pandora, a couple of good movie applications, one of them called Crackle. (Great movie service by the way)
I ditched my netflix account for now and decided to switch to Hulu plus which is now half the price or netflix since prices went up. The reason why I switched was because I couldn't afford to pay it with my allowance money, I only had ten bucks. lol
The first thing that I noticed that I didn't notice before when I first went to the website was how small it literally was. It fits my palm, and its half the size of my cable box receiver. The remote control was also a tiny little thing, yet so simple because it only had a few buttons on it.
The second thing I noticed was that I was in control of what channels I wanted on my Roku. I didn't have to get a package where it included all these other channels that I'll never watch, instead I could just pick and choose. If I wanted more channels all I had to do is go to the free section and add it onto my Roku, then it'll update and I'll be set to go. So far I've added Break.com, crunchyroll (Good website for anime fans like me, democracy now, and Mediafly (Cause it had CollegeHumor. :]).
So for anyone interested in the Roku, I completely recommend it. I think it has something that everyone would enjoy. Such as gaming media, movies, music and technology related things. Most things do cost some money, but others are free. If you're a religious person, there's religion shows or if you're interested in cooking shows you can also get them from the Roku channel store.
Technology has made me lazy, instead of getting up and getting on the computer to watch some hilarious videos of people face-planting on the computer. I wake up and got to my television set, though I hope sooner or later they'll add youtube to the channel list. That would be terrific and 80% of what I use the Internet for will be useless. Though technically I still need the Internet, in order to watch these things. So... I guess that defeats my statement, lol.
You think technology will allow MMORPGs to be played from your television next? I want to play Starcraft. :(
