What is your favorite RPG from the sixth generation consoles? That's PS2, Gamecube, XBOX, and Dreamcast.
I can't talk about seventh since the only time I've ever played a seventh generation is at the electronics department in Wal-Mart.
I've played Grandia Xtreme, Final Fantasy X, Dragon Quest VIII, Star Ocean: Till the End of Time, Tales of Symphonia, dothack//GU, Shining Tears, and Arc the Lad: End of Darkness.
Dragon Quest VIII comes out on top of course, with Star Ocean, Shining Tears, and Arc the Lad being at the bottom for sure. FFX, Grandia, Symphonia and Dothack were all pretty good, but there was something about DQ that still beat them in the end. Dragon Quest seemed to have everything perfected from the gameplay to the soundtrack. The storyline even had me impressed which is a big one considering the fact that I rarely play games and enjoy the story behind them. It just seemed like there was a lot more to do compared to something like Final Fantasy. Ride boats, fly on huge birds, catch monsters and battle them in the Monster Arena. Plus I'm a sucker for anime-inspired graphics.
But seriously, back to the soundtrack. Tell me you couldn't listen to this all day long.

Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind has claimed thousands of hours of my life. Fable TLC was also amazing, I played through that over 20 times. Gauntlet Dark Legacy was really fun to play with four people.

I was diggin' DQ and FFX. I hated the sequel FFX2. Yeah, I played a little bit of FFX2 because my friend across the street had it, and by the looks of it, it wasn't nearly as good as the first. I also forgot to mention I played FFXII. That game was neat as well, but still doesn't beat DQ. |
I Always wanted to try skies of Arcadia, never could find it.
Same with shadow of colossus. |
The original .hack is the only 6th generation console RPG I liked. Unless Kingsley was PS2? I forget. Though I guess that's not really an RPG.

I do not like RPGs overall, therefore I did not own any for the PS2. But we did rent Gauntlet Dark Legacy and loved it. So I'll put that on the top of my list.

Try Dynasty Warriors if you like running around beating stuff up. It's not exactly an RPG but it's got some RPG elements the last time I checked, like upgrades, skills, equipment etc. |

It was a lot of fun when I was ~10, it was one of the few games where my brother(s) and I could cooperate together. I have yet to try it since then, but I'll put one of the PS2 versions on my eBay list. |
PS2 : 2nd Gen
Gamecube : 4th Gen Xbox : 1st Gen Dreamcast : 6th Gen So out of the consoles you listed only one is 6th generation... Sorry but that is the biggest fail I've seen all week. |
