Seika is now the #1 BYOND Ranked game, and I hear that there is some controversy about that.
For quite a while, LRS has been the number one game, a fact which we're proud of. However, an important aspect of the ratings system is to motivate game creators to get their game high on the list. Every self-respecting game creator should be gunning for the game in the number one slot, and should be improving their game and encouraging their players to vote for them, in an effort to prove themselves better than whatever game currently holds the honor.
So congratulations to the Seika team. They have worked hard to get where they are.
And a warning to the Seika team: LRS isn't standing still! Big new features are in the works, and we're coming back for our title, bub...
That's very nice of you to say that, Deadron. I appreciate it very much and am glad to see that friendly competition can take place. Just so you know, though, we also have some plans up our sleeves!
I'd also like to congratulate you and your team for your great success with LRS. I'd like to see more great games on BYOND, which is a main reason for our latest contest. http://www.members.byond.com/IccusionEntertainment Good luck! |
I disagree with about half of the middle paragraph.
Yes, game developers should be interested in improving their game. They should want other people to enjoy it too. If your game hits a high rank in the meantime, treat it as icing on your cake. If aiming to be #1 is your goal, I think you should re-evaluate your priorities. Build what you think is fun, not what will earn the most ego points. That's only contributing to the "popularity contest" look that some people view the ranking system to be. I'll be more interested in the player review system if it's released. I think that will be more valuable than a bouncing trophy system. |
How is it that Seika 2, which has not even been released, ranks above Bomberman Arena, which is frequently played by many people on BYOND?
(Yes, Maeva is in the double digits, but it's been around since DUNG ;), and I actually HAVE hosted it a few times on occasion) |
How is it that Seika 2, which has not even been released I agree. Seika is okay, but Seika II was a lot of fun! I was in on every open test. What of it, Aaiko? =P |
Edit site: Favorite games
Search: DDT Click a game to add to end of list. DDT.DragonSnot DDT.Birdland Where is Last Robot Standing? I wanted to add it to my favourites a long time ago but it never seems to appear. A search for "Last Robot Standing" gives many results. None of them the right game though. I'd like to offer some support to your fine game but am currently unable to add it to my favourites for some strange reason. |
Not sure, but the other way to do it is to go to the game's hub page and use the "Add to your favorites" link. You can do it from here:

Once something big happens, ill put LRS back at #1. I got bored of it to be honest. =/

I don't like the ranking system at all, it's easily abused and I doubt most people actually play games based on what the ranking system says because they know better.
|
It is abusable, but fortunately much less so than many systems.
In LRS, we've had a number of people come check it out because of the ranking, so I believe it is effective for publicizing games. And given that the highest rated games do tend to be some of the better games available on BYOND, it seems pretty effective to me. |
Deadron:
And given that the highest rated games do tend to be some of the better games available on BYOND, it seems pretty effective to me. Have you played any of the top ten games for more than five minutes? As it stands, LRS and Castle are the only two worthy of the top ten, although I haven't played Duel Monsters so I can't judge that game's worth. >It is abusable, but fortunately much less so than many systems. Yikes. I don't think that a standard of "good enough" is the key to success. |
Seika deserves to be there. It was a huge game in its time. It is still getting better. Prolieum doesn't deserve to be in the top 15 but you don't see me complaining. That game makes me sleepy. So repetitive and nothing really to do.

Good thing we're not stopping there then! |
To be honest, Duel monsters is actually made -really- well. I'm not a big yu-gi-oh fan, but had that been made for Pokémon I'd be on it all the time.

Hehehe.
