Alright, I think I'll write up a puzzle game for starters. Mesa have an idea...
Question. So... how do we notify you when we complete an entry? what would we send you apon completion?

And does this make anyone that doesn't have paypal can't enter the Contest? Or can we just donate it to BYOND?
I think you just need an email address to create a paypal account that can send/receive money.
Then paypal can just send you a check in the mail.
If we submit multiple games and they place and all that...we can win multiple prizes right?
We will make a post in a few days about how things will be judged and how you will be able to submit entries. If you do not have PayPal, that is fine, you can donate it to BYOND. If you make multiple entries and more than one places, sure, you will get multiple prizes.
Well lord of light just made a new game can he count as part of the contest?
- Any type or theme of game is allowed, except fan games.

Say there are two people. One made a high quality puzzle game, the other made a high quality RPG. The RPG guy would win because he (was able to) put more hours into his game so it's bigger than the puzzle game. I don't really think that's fair. I think it's better to at least restrict genres.

How can a company sponsor it's own company?
You're going to sponsor your own even? I thought the fact you're running it was a big enough given. <.<
- Entry must have been started after the contest begun.

How exactly are you going to check this? I have around 40 projects in my bin folder, and only three hub entries.

- Participant must have PayPal to recieve any cash prizes.

I don't believe it is nessesary to restrict your pool of participants so greatly; a street address for mailing a money order should be enough. If this is to much of a hassle with international contestants, restrict it to just your country, but at least make the effort. You can even deduct the price of a stamp from the award amount.

Also, do the contestants release any rights to their work by submitting them? Does Iccusion intend to use any material from the projects, including screen shots, in the execution of this event, or in future Iccusion projects? Most contests require that the participant release rights to his/her work; but since it is not stated, I would be very upset if any of my original work was used by Iccursion, or any of it's members, without my consent.
ok how bout for the people who dont have paypal u buy them a byond membership for the amount of years the cash prize was soooo example if the cash prize was 75 $ you buy them a byond membership for 4 years...= )
Will we have to submit source code?
Nope Airjoe, it's the final project they are looking for. (I asked Aaiko last night)

We, Iccusion Entertainment, will not be using anyone's projects as our own, to my knowledge. This contest is to stimulate people to start and finish a BYOND Game, hopefully inspiring them to try harder at making newer game. It's basically a ploy to help BYOND, as we're getting memberships for people which help and getting new/original games out there.

No, as Lord of Light has been working on his game before this contest started.

I'll leech more information from Aaiko later, to confirm these statements.

"Say there are two people. One made a high quality puzzle game, the other made a high quality RPG. The RPG guy would win because he (was able to) put more hours into his game so it's bigger than the puzzle game. I don't really think that's fair. I think it's better to at least restrict genres."

We will not go by genre. We will go by the quality of the game. If both games are extremely good quality, we'll look deeper into sounds, how the graphics suite the game, how professionally made the game is, if the help system is easy to read and comprehend, if it's addicting, and many other things. Most likely if you put more hours into the game, it will be better. But that gives you reason to put more hours into your project, even if it isn't a huge RPG. You can make it so users can make their own maps, select different playing modes, difficulties, have rankings to give them things to work for. All kinds of things could be put into a puzzle game to make it compete with a RPG.

"How can a company sponsor it's own company?
You're going to sponsor your own even? I thought the fact you're running it was a big enough given."

We are sponsoring it for the BYOND Community. It's not really "our" event. We don't really get anything out of it. It's purely to help BYOND and the BYOND Community. It could even help you by helping a game you make get popular.

"How exactly are you going to check this? I have around 40 projects in my bin folder, and only three hub entries."

There's really no way of checking this unless someone leaves hard evidence. We just have to trust that people truely start the project because of this contest.

"I don't believe it is nessesary to restrict your pool of participants so greatly; a street address for mailing a money order should be enough. If this is to much of a hassle with international contestants, restrict it to just your country, but at least make the effort. You can even deduct the price of a stamp from the award amount."

We will see what we can do to provide payment by mail.

"Also, do the contestants release any rights to their work by submitting them? We will not use anything from your game, except a few screenshots to post on the final results page. No source code is required for this contest either. All we are looking for is the final end product which will benefit BYOND the most.

"ok how bout for the people who dont have paypal u buy them a byond membership for the amount of years the cash prize was soooo example if the cash prize was 75 $ you buy them a byond membership for 4 years...= )"

We will do whatever the winning participants would like with the prizes as long as a decision is made within 10 days after final results are in (besides, at this point, mailing the prizes).

Does this qualify as an entry? I began work on it about 1 day before I created the hub. 3 days before the contest began. What timing.
