But...but...I have to go sledding!
I haven't even started yet. I'm still stuck on a concept. Hopefully I pull through, though.

Absolutely. I've seen quite a few people out and about today.
Character design and animations are hard. I might rage quit from this >.>
I decided that I won't have the time for it. Aside from that graphics are my obstacle. Unless I find someone who can do some for me my work wouldn't really be fitting to the plot and depth of the game.
I won't be in on it either. I found an artist, but he won't be available until after the contest. Here's to next time.

Yes...and I will finish damnit!
I started something, but I'm not sure where to go with it honestly. Looks great so far but...

I'm the kind of person who comes out with good concepts, makes like 10% maybe even 30% of a full game and then has a massive writers (coders?) block.

The worst part: I don't ever like to just hand off my code because I don't want people to mess up the vision I had for the game. As a result, nothing gets done except some concept work and then it falls into my recycling bin months later.

;-;
That's why a contest like this can be good - you are forced to limit yourself to a project that can be completed in the allotted time. A good strategy is to avoid spending too much time on animation, especially if you aren't a great animator.
I'm not going to make it either--unless some magical fairy appeared and sprinkled some motivation dust on me. I've been contemplating on a concept for days now. I just can't seem to get a concrete idea.
I get the feeling this same contest may need to be re-run at a later date. It seems like everyone is too busy right now, or the few who aren't lack the concept. I had a concept in mind, but I've been too busy to join.
what about extending the deadline?

we could all vote by sending bravo1 a pm, although I'm not sure what a fair majority would be in this case...

I don't really like that idea, to be honest. I mean sure, it gives the busy people a few days, but they might be busy for weeks. I think it'd be better to just reboot it in two to four weeks, or something. If it could be positioned near a holiday that people get some time off from college and such from that might help, too.
Well, I think 6 out of 21 contestants have said they are too busy, leaving 15. If more people say they can't make it then it would be getting pretty slim...
So long as there are at least 12 people on board, I'll keep it up. Kind of saddens me though...
I still anticipate turning in a submission. Good luck to everyone who is still participating!
I don't think it would hurt to advertise competitions like these in the pager's home section. Right now, f.ex, we have an old news post showing (NEStalgia's Greenlight push) from over five months ago. Seems like wasted space if the news post lingers for more than a month.

More exposure may push a few newbies to dabble in DM and also see contributions from programmers that do not browse the BYOND forums (SS13 for instance - an opensource project).
