Another note: even if you move in 4/8 directions it's still okay, the perspective of the game has to appear as if the player is to the side of the game world, not above.

It's not like there's anything wrong with his Keyboard library.

It doesn't have anything to do with pixel movement.
You... You... Ugh! Curse my slowness, and your excellent theme selection Bravo1! I've got at least one game idea in reserve for at least two of, if not all three of these themes, and I would love to make a game for this contest as practice for those, but I have too much going on right now to join in!

Bah, oh well. Happens to everyone, I suppose. These are seriously good theme selections, though. I cannot wait to see the entries for this contest. Good luck everyone!

No, but it's helpful and easy to customize, so why not?

*shrugs*

My point was it has nothing to do with pixel movement and shouldn't be intertwined with a lib meant for pixel movement. You have to specifically remove it if you don't want to use it.

His Pixel Movement and Sidescroller libraries were made for smooth movement.
In Pixel Movement, you can move in any direction with any movement keys (by default, 8 directions with 4 movement keys). In Sidescroller, you can jump and shoot (for example) while moving without interrupting your movement.

Now, "pixel movement" refers to BYOND's default implementation. 8-directional movement with 8 movement keys in one direction at a time, integer step_sizes, speeds based on your keyboard.
If my idea pans out, it might blow your minds :)

None of that has anything to do with the actual pixel movement in F_A's lib. It would have been possible to release the library without the keyboard stuff, or he could have put it in a sub folder like the other included demos. His pixel movement lib is not reliant on the keyboard lib, therefore it shouldn't have been so tightly bundled together.

Though, none of that has anything to do with this contest so I will refrain from posting about it any longer.

His pixel movement lib is reliant on his keyboard lib, though. Being able to access the state of any key at any given tick is integral to his player loop.
It sure got quiet in here...
we are all working hard on our games :)

Unfortunately I have only been able to get about 4 hours of work in since the start...Real Life getting in the way again...
Hopefully, it means they're working.
I didn't have time to work in the game in thelast two days...
But here's a screenshot of what the game looks like now
Can I still enter this?
I'm sure you can, I don't see why bravo would disqualify you for having less time than everyone else :)

All I've got is a neat concept, not sure how to turn it into a full game.

Though, I could always make a Galaga clone at the last minute.
I've spent time the last few days planning story, locations, characters, and searching music(time consuming). I'm actually coding today though I wish I'd gotten to this stage on Monday.

EDIT:

lol
I've made a post on my tumblr about this. Though I have next to no one following me, it may get some random's attention.

It also lists the ideas I want to use. I'm still having a hard time envisioning how I want the gameplay to pan out. With platforming I'm thinking a room by room approach, solve the puzzle and move on while at the limit of a timer, but to me that isn't terrifying.
I think I've got a nice concept but I'm not sure if it'll turn out how I envisioned it. I'm still working on side-scrolling stuff and I'm on my 3rd revision as we speak. No actual game content done yet.

Took me til yesterday to make a story I liked and wanted to do. I just started coding today.
