Thanks to everyone who stopped in and tested this out.

This whole Hamachi thing is quite interesting and I wanted to do a little test-drive of its BYOND capabilities.

So if you have Hamachi and you want to test something out real quick, just join my Hamachi Network and click the BYOND link.

Network ID: DelveHamachi
Password: password123
BYOND link: byond://5.242.170.149:10000

We're done, thanks everyone! (:
Hamachi is used to establish a virtual private network between machines over a wide area network. It's to make your computer think someone on the internet is actually a part of your local area network.

Since BYOND already supports multiplayer over the internet, using Hamachi is absolutely meaningless.

Some people can't port-forward because of their unfortunate internet setup, and this makes it so you don't have to, so I think it still is useful to some people.

Keep in mind, I do have a few ports forwarded, but because my ISP is strange in that I'm still unable to host directly to the BYOND site. (It gives a strange IP, like 127.0.0.1 instead of my real IP, 67.82.something.something.)

I was thinking about Hamachi + BYOND a while back, but I couldn't find anyone to help me test it. :(

127.0.0.1 = localhost
localhost = you

Everyone is 127.0.0.1.

An easy way to figure out your computer's local area network address is to run ipconfig in cmd.exe.
Yeah, Oasis, that's the local adress; the adress you can log in with should be on the dream daemon (unless you're using DS, I never use DS =/)
I've tried using Hamachi with BYOND quite a few times in the past, and I was unable to actually start hosting on the Hamachi IP. How did you start hosting like this?
Just make sure you disable file sharing while using it. Somebody got a hold of some of my sources a few years back while using this.
Congrats. I've used Hamachi for BYOND years ago when I didn't know how to portforward. Now I just forward ports, which is much more accessible than having to install Hamachi and join your private network.
ROMs on BYOND. Why!?!?
