Can't install Byond on Windows 8, so I'm assuming it hasn't been updated for it yet. Is this in the works or anything for the future?
I also am running Windows 8. I have been able to install the BYOND software suite without having to have it run in compatibility mode or any fancy stuff like that.
Okay that's good to know, I'll try doing it again, maybe I screwed something up.
Do you get some error message or something?

Are you doing it on a Windows 8 Tablet? You can't install BYOND on those. It doesn't support desktop programs.
No, I'm on a laptop. It's still having an issue. I opened the .exe file and my command prompt pops up for a split second, then nothing. Tried running in compatibility mode and got the same results.

Have you tried as Administrator? Did you try any older version?
I tried as Administrator, and I tried running it in compatibility for Windows 7 and Windows XP (Service Pack 3) and got the same results. Could it be an issue with my 64-bit OS instead of 32-bit?
Got it installed! Thanks for the help guys I really appreciate it! I was being silly and downloaded the standalone installer tool....derp.
^^ I have the same problem with the Windows Version installer(Version 498.1163). I've tried running as Admin, Changed compatibility to both WinXP SP3 And Win7... Still no avail.. When i try to start the pager NOTHING happens... Any ideas?
ok for all of you who are confuse about this windows 8 64 bit runs byond it might be something your windows was install like didnt make you able to download and intall it right so you really need to be careful when you try to upgrade to a new version of windows ok guys:)
I have a 64-bit Windows 8 machine and BYOND works fine except for some minor general bugs. Installing shouldn't be a problem.

@EyeHax try checking your firewall settings or reinstalling.
