Disconnect laptops from power supply charger
before cleaning..
+Make sure to check the battery pack first, that is where most of the dust will accumulate and form in the back of the computer.
simply wipe the inside out with a dry cloth and wipe the battery off, and put it back in. (for laptops only) Make sure to also clean off the touch pad(the mouse on the laptop.)
Then simply cleaning out the keyboard: I would gently take a airsol can and blow compressed air in the cracks of the keyboards, to make sure the debris is out, also tap the laptop to get any remains out of it, do not hit it.
It is hard to take a laptop loose..
to take a desktop loose, take the back of the desktop monitor off and clean the inside.. Make sure you do not touch the motherboard or you could hit one of the circuits where the metal is touched(mostly the pins of the brain card)(causes your computer to become dysfunctional and not work)
then I would simply clean the fan out too, due to this: you'll have to do this because when the dirt and debris goes into the heat sync, the heat sync will over heat due to the blockage of the air generating from the fan to the whole computer, to keep it cool and not over heat.
Oh by the way...If you are in anyways wondering how to clean computer component chips..
I would recommend getting a special substance such as a bit of rubbing alcohol and then rubbing a bit of Vaseline to keep remaining dirt from getting onto the chip(forgot a bit on how I called it while I was teaching it to a guy earlier today)
And also, I do not recommend touching that IPC@chip component either, that is what holds the valid gateway address of a person's computer this has nothing to do with cleaning..

This advice fails.
When you're opening up your computer to do ANYTHING, step one needs to be "Disconnect from power." Your first step is to take your battery out and clean it (that's fine), but then you put it back in before you do the rest of the cleaning? No. No no no no no no no. |
No ...this is for only beginnners..since laptops for beginners are hard to open up I wouldn't recommend others to take it apart or it could be damaged..this is just for those who do not know how to clean some of the excess dirt out... and to clean maybe parts of it...
|
By the way...for laptops, I never recommended anything about putting something back into a laptop and cleaning the INSIDES after taking the whole computer apart. I meant to clean partly around in the battery back and a bit inside, then put the battery back in and clean off the screen, and the mouse and keyboard for heaven sakes, get it right.
.. The Magic Man.. I am a computer tech/game maker/and graphics artist, I know what a computer is and a computer motherboard has 17 parts. ._. I know how a computer works.. |
I prefer the old method's such as a scrubbing brush, a bucket of water, some rags and a fire extinguisher.
But your way sounds ok i guess :) |
Especially when you yourself clearly are not an expert on the subject.
Better advice would simply be to use compressed air.
