Today, I discovered how easily a Mega-Info website can draw you in and keep your attention for vast amounts of time without realizing it.
I had one of my spur of the moment, I want to know more about this, thoughts. I quickly headed over to Wikipedia and did a search on Wales.
Two hours and ten articles later, I realized how wrapped up and un-aware I had become of the world around me.
I found it highly intriguing that if not for the death of a single man in 1403, England at the time may very well have been divided into three separate kingdoms: Wales, Northumbria and England. History has so many interesting what-if moments!
Wikipedia Main Page
Very useful site for collecting information for projects or if you want to know more about something/someone/somewhere/someetc. Beware though, you might want to set a timer to keep yourself from being sucked in!

Not to mention it has a good deal of programming stuff too! I found some great information there for some implementation details on for my QuickSort library and some good information on heap stuff when I was implementing one for my PriorityQueue library!

On OS X, the new Dashboard feature has a Wikipedia widget so you can get quick access to entries.
I should start using it more. |
Wales was conquered and it's people and eoconomy basically annihilated by 1282, so at 1400 (prior to the last revolt) Wales did exist but it was nothing more than a puppet state of England and thus it's status as a separate country is questionable.
Now if you're talking about Modern times, then your statement is true. The United Kingdom of Great Britain and North Ireland consists of four subsects: Northern Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales. But each only has limited domestic powers through their parliaments. |
