1. I'm using internet explorer
2. I'm just trying to play BYOND games but they keep crashing (all of them at the same time)
I'm not really sure what is causing this problem, my internet is working perfectly fine. I'm still able to play BYOND games, but they somehow all crash at the same time. Though then there are times when most of them crash and 1 doesn't.
This happened to be just able like 3 days ago, and I'm not sure it's because I'm opening a lot of BYOND games. I'm not sure if it's specifically one game that is making all the other game crash.
So I kind of need some advice or help in order to understand what might be causing all my BYOND game to crash at the same time.
When I mean crash, it would say like:
"Connection Failed, Reconnecting in 10 seconds.."
BYOND version is 498.1158 by the way.
This is what happens: I go on a game for like maybe 30 seconds, then I already crash (most of my games as well at the same time)
I think I'm having the same problem as this person here: http://www.byond.com/forum/?post=114665, though it never really said a way to fix it.
What I tried:
-Disabled the Norton Smart Firewall
-Deleting all the cache
-Uninstalled BYOND and installed it again
Thanks :)

I just got this message just now: "Connection failed.
Reconnecting in 10 seconds... BYOND Hub: connection failed. Your network connection is not working or the hub server is down. You cannot login at this time. (Consult BYOND Help for more information.) Connection closed." Psst, I just editted the first post, giving the link that there was another person who is having the same problem, but there was no solution though. |

Either your internet, you're not logging in properly or the hub/server isn't accessible. Well I checked more posts that were similar to this, people who kept disconnecting constantly, and one person said something about fixing their firewall and it worked for them (though I'm not really sure how to do that): Here was the post: http://www.byond.com/forum/?post=294595, though that was Guest issues. I'm having constantly disconnecting issues. |
Eiry, what internet are you using/ how fast does it go regularly? Firewalls are a source and sometimes antivirus's are a problem, sometimes with antivirus's even if you turn them off, they arnt turned off, so removing one might help, i had a similar issue with advast if you have that try it
also what is your OS specs? windows 7/vista/xp ??? things for you to try: turn off anti-virus's delete anti-virus's (not recommended) turn off firewall (control panel > firewall > turn off) delete all BYOND files and reinstall also wha kinds of games are you trying to play? |
I'm using Windows 7,
And I turned off my firewall, but I'm not comfortable to deleting anti-virus things. And some games I'm playing are like Naruto Ninja MooMoo, Curtains Call, an NFF rip, and a bunch of other games. Though, it doesn't happen on those certain games, it happens on all types of games I played. So I'm like constantly disconnecting. And when you mean delete BYOND files, do you mean delete cache? Because I already tried that. Do you have the same version of BYOND as me? 498.1158. |
Delete your BYOND files on your computer, where-ever they are, im not on my computer where i have BYOND downloaded, so i cant see where the files are put, sorry but try the programs file in Computer > C
also cant check my BYOND version, sorry |

I see 3 folders, 1 is BYOND, another is BYOND as well, the other one is byond The byond has: bin, cfg, help One of the BYOND has: cache, cfg, KeyInfo, lib, MyHub, screenshots, Skins, key The other BYOND has: saved, skin, skin So just delete all 3? |
OK, so I deleted all 3.
Still constantly disconnecting T_T. And it looks like everytime I like "alt + tab" (which is the control to just switch onto another application, while the other application is still open), so everytime I "alt+tab", the game then would soon quickly disappear. Though, I'm not sure if that's entirely true, because I still sometimes disconnect from just having 1 entire game open, while the other game just in the background. But I don't think having 2 open at the same time is the problem, because other people who play the same games as me have both of them open, and it seems to work fine for them. |
Hi Eiry,
In order to help you, we may need more information about this problem: Can you try playing a game locally to see if it has the same problem? If the problem doesn't happen in local game, are you on a wireless network? If so, is it possible to move closer to the source or connect using a cord, at least temporarily, in order to see if the issue occurs? You mentioned that these problems began a few days ago in the form of slow downloads, has the problem been getting progressively worse? Can you (if possible) test if this occurs with any other computer? Good luck! |
Oh, I found how to play BYOND games now!
So after receiving an e-mail from BYOND, when I thought it might have been this version could have been doing it. They gave me a link to older versions of BYOND, and when I downloaded like version 4.7, instead of the current one, it stopped my disconnecting! So there might have been some problems with the current version that intefered, while the previous version works much better now. Well thanks to everyone who helped! :) |
How can I download this version? And will it allow to to connect to the games still?

If you were looking to get older versions of BYOND, then you can go on here: http://www.byond.com/download/build/ Though, if you are good with the latest version, then you shouldn't need the older ones xD, but just in case if you had the same issue as me or later in the future. |
I just updated BYOND again to see if that might've been the problem. Though, I'm not sure, I updated BYOND like 3 days ago (because games were taking forever to load), but now games started crashing.
