I have been having that message pop up randomly from time to time. I cannot tell if it is becoming more frequent but I damn know it is frustrating and not caused from my end.

I have a router, and it works perfectly. No a firewall is not blocking the application. So the real question I am asking is when is this bug going to get fixed?

I have looked through the forums and I have seen this exact problem happen 4 years ago! I do not doubt that the developers try and make the application run as smoothly as possible, but this makes it impossible to play any of the online games on this site.

Is anything happening to make this thing become fixed?

Hi Ratheos,

If you suspect that a bug in the software is at play, it is highly recommended that you submit a bug report including complete details and steps to reliably reproduce the problem.

However, I suspect that the report would be marked as "Not a bug" as this is most likely a configuration issue or an Internet Service Provider issue.

As a test, when the problem does not occur, go to This page and write down your public IP address. > When the issue occurs, refresh and return to that page > Look at and write down the public IP address and note if it is different than what it was earlier > When the issue no longer occurs, refresh and return to that page again > Compare the public IP address to what it was when you started.

If the IP address is different when the issue occurs and doesn't occur, that would suggest that this is a problem on your Internet Service Provider's end, and should be brought up with them, informing them that hub.byond.com becomes inaccessible from the one IP address.

If the IP address remains the same the entire time, that would suggest this is not a ISP issue, and may have a different solution.

Good luck!
The IP address is the same. I already said I was pretty sure this problem was from the actual coding.

If it isn't I seen no reason why this problem persists.
We may need more information to help you resolve this issue.

First: How long does the "down period" where you are unable to join a game last? Just for one session, or an extended period of time. Is the period of time consistent?

Second: Does the issue happen at any specific time, or randomly?

Third: If the issue occurs over an extended period of time, are you able to join any other games, or does this just happen for one game in particular?
First: Yesterday it lasted for about a total of 3 hours or so. I can't tell at this time if there is a pattern.

Second: It was working fine before 9pm.

Third: It does not allow me to join online games. I can play single player games just fine.

I can also log into the pager just fine, but the errors are, "Byond Central is not accessible", "Connection failed", and "Connection Cancelled".

While I am actually playing it never kicks me out. Once I am on it is fine. Its when I close the game screen that things can go poorly.
Check to make sure that you currently only have one active internet connection on your computer. To do this: Start > Control panel > Network connections > If you have more than one network connection that is active, disable all but the one that you are currently using. > Restart BYOND.

When the issue is occurring, try running a tracert on hub.byond.com. To do this: Start > Run... > type: cmd > OK > type: tracert hub.byond.com > press: Enter. If the tracert doesn't reach tesla.byond.com [50.22.142.19], gets stuck between severs, or has a bunch of "Server time-out" messages, then this would suggest that this is a ISP issue (Although this isn't likely, its worth testing).

Good luck!
I did have two networks on,but even only having one of those networks on did not solve the problem. I also did the trace and I was able to get to get to the IP.

I have also uninstalled and re installed Byond twice, and I have also restarted my computer after both installations.

Since you were able to successfully reach BYOND in a trace, this suggests that this is a configuration issue.

First: Try clearing the BYOND cache, to do this: Open the BYOND pager > File > Preferences > Games > Clear Cache > OK > OK. Then restart the BYOND pager.

Second: Try clearing the BYOND preferences folder, to do this: Open the BYOND pager > File > Preferences > Advanced > Open user directory > Go up one file level > Rename the folder named BYOND to Old_BYOND > Restart the BYOND pager.

Third: Unfortunately, at this point, the only other known (and most common) cause of this problem is from an external program blocking or restricting BYOND. Double check to make sure that there is no parental controls, firewalls, antivirus programs, or other similar programs blocking BYOND.exe, Dreamseeker.exe, or dreamdaemon.exe. Some firewalls and parental controls offer a time limitation selection on certain programs, make sure that these are not set.

Good luck!
I have cleared the game cache and although it seemed to work for one round of a game, the problem reappeared. I tried to again clear the cache hoping to duplicate the positive result, but it did not work.

I renamed the byond folder to Old_BYOND, and although I do not understand how it would have helped, it didn't.

I have looked through all of the programs that I could and couldn't think of, but I have found nothing that would limit my access or randomly block my access.

This is why it is my belief that the problem is not from my end.
So is there no other ideas on how I can fix this problem? Maybe a less common solution?
