Thanks to everyone who's participated in the BYOND Members trial so far. You've all really helped make this a successful community site!
We're pleased to announce that we are now officially open for business. To purchase your Membership, go to the Membership Info page. Right now we accept PayPal and BYONDimes, but we are discussing the possibility of handling other payment types in the future. Remember that everyone who purchases a Membership before the end of this month will get an extra 6 months added to their first year.
Along with this, we're introducing a major new feature available only to paying Members. We're excited to offer file hosting for BYOND Members, starting with 10 MB of space and a 1 GB monthly bandwidth allowance. Use it to host your BYOND game downloads, your own personal web pages, or any of your own creations. Click on the new Manage Files button when you Edit your site.
Please feel free to leave any feedback on this. We have a lot of improvements in mind for the future, but we always want to hear what you think.

Will we be allowed to upload music files as well as games.
|
File hosting can be used for any legitimate purpose. The rules are spelled out in the Terms of Service when you sign up.

Zaltron, in Your Hub when you edit a game's hub entry, you'll get a list of zip files that are on your Member site. You can choose from that list, or enter any non-BYOND url just like you've always been able to do.
Also, your Member site file manager tells you the urls of all your hosted files. You'll be able to enter those urls directly anywhere you want to link to them - from within BYOND or anywhere else on the web Hope this helps. |
No offense, but it's kind of BS thatwe have 13 days to get that 6 month bonus. Maybe you should entend it to July 18th or something. Just a thought/rant.

Oh, and The Cheat8:
"No offense, but it's kind of BS thatwe have 13 days to get that 6 month bonus. Maybe you should entend it to July 18th or something. Just a thought/rant." Members has been on trail since early June. I'm, sorry if you missed out on it. |
So in order for us to play games in byond, we need to pay? Or are we still able to play games in byond.com and just not have use of the pager system. I don't use paypal, but I'll send in a money order if we are required to send in a payment to play games in byond.com...my e-mail is [email protected].

NO DUDE
YOU PAY FOR USE OF THE PAGER AND A MEMBERS WEBSITE THATS IT. please tell me you're kidding brandish... <3 |
Brandish, this announcement should help clarify things.
To answer your question more directly, no, you do not need to pay to create or play BYOND games. We are committed to making sure that is always true. Of course, game developers are free to charge money for their games, but BYOND itself does not charge at all for playing. You will still be able to use the pager for free, but it will be slightly limited. You can still see what games are online and who is online for free. You can also still receive instant messages from people who are BYOND Members, and hold normal instant message conversations with them after they initiate contact. For free, you won't be able to start a new conversation with someone, and you won't be able to see directly where your friends are when they are online - only that they are somewhere online. So, the membership buys you full pager features, your own personal BYOND website, file hosting to be used for any legal purpose, cool icons and other perks. See the Membership Info page for full details. |

Theres a petition going out there that i was asked to sign but i refused. Becuase I am a paying member now or will be once the money get to u.
Im really here to say is please dont be drawn in by petitoners look at Y100 they had a petiton (im glad it didnt work) but it was a waste of time in my opinion. They petition on your way of making money and they cant face the facts that a free website needs cash and must find a good way to earn that cash that they have bin holding back on for all these years. Please dont givin to those evil petitioners ~Dave Bryan~ |
