I am not sure if this has been suggested before, However, I was wondering if it would be at all possible to allow for multiple maps to be open at once while editing them? And example of this would be like, clicking on world.dmm and it showing up in its own window and clicking on interior.dmm and it also showing up in its own window. Or possibly a tabbed view similar to how MS paint or Photoshop is set up, allowing easier access to the different DM files or the ability to place them side by side to compare. and having the common tools for map building floating on the side like MS paint or Photoshop works as well.
This would really help when it came to trying to match things or lining up two maps that lead to one another by changing the Z-level. and might just make mapping in general easier by allowing us to pre-select the maps we want to work on and just tabbing through them or minimizing them until needed, as opposed to the current method of having to work on one and tab over and find the next one you want to work on and clicking through z levels if it isn't the first one ETC.

Each Z layer could just default to its own tab, and would preferably allow us to name Z layers (for in-game use as well).

I would hope that with this would come tabbed DM files, and things of that nature. It probably won't happen, to be honest, so you're best off persuading the DMIDE team to do it.

It doesn't seem that there has been any activity on that in almost a year. Although the features they mention in there post should really be added to BYOND's software in general... Either way, from the few people I have chatted with this would be a really helpful feature and so I would hope it gets a decent amount of votes to be more likely to be considered.
