Also, why is stargate on the front page? It isn't anime but it is surely a fan game based on the show.

In which case it will make BYOND look empty. And if you are new and don't know to look up specific tags for specific games (because you haven't been around to know what games you are looking for) it might actually turn off players from staying. especially since most original games I have seen are not as popular as the anime games here on BYOND or the other fan based games. Not that I am sticking up for anime games, I do think something needed to be done about them and I think this is a good first step. However; I am not sure yet how well it will work. Only time will tell I guess. |

This might be harder getting used to then what Youtube has become(Which most have forgotten about the old Youtube). When the games that's been worked on for awhile comes out, that's when BYOND's community will expand, more people will find what they're looking for. |
Anyway, I am really for the new BYOND. A bit more controlled - but for good reasons. The new website layout looks a lot more professional and having non-member hubs unlisted should help promote income and weed out the source of a large portion of the "rip" community.

I'll post more details regarding submissions and listings when we release this.

No, they do know what kind of games their looking for, they just don't know what kind of games we have. Which is a very common thing for any person new to a website. Which is why it doesn't matter how old or new you are. The system is practically fool proof... "I'm looking for some kind of RPG to fuel my interests. Hey, there's a list of tags there, something websites have been doing since the nineties, I wonder if clicking that RPG link will take me to a list of RPGs. Oh hey! It totally does! Awesome!" |
I tagged a whole sleuth of pages on there a while back, then I got bored and went to do other things. Anime fangames need both the fangame and anime tag because nobody seems to realize that you can have an anime game that isn't a fangame.
Anime is a art style, and there is absolutely nothing stopping one of the developers here from coming up with their own Anime characters and storyline that isn't based on someone elses work, in which case the game would actually have nothing stopping it from being featured on the website. |
Yeah, but my policy is that since Anime and Fangames dominate our listings, when either tag is present, it's better to just make it exclusive. So I'm just using Fangame for all non-Anime fangames.

Wait, by non-anime fangames, you mean naruto and whatever will be in "Anime" while original concepts will be put in fangames? |

Whoops, I responded from the test site so that link is bogus. Well you would think people are smart enough to just remove 'dev.' to get to it. |

I'm mostly using Fangames for things based off movies (eg, Star Wars), other games (Halo), etc.
