I finished the last two episodes. It didn't really leave me satisfied but it was still pretty good.

I need more short series (under 30 episodes) to watch on Crunchyroll, Hulu, or Netflix. Not willing to watch anything from any other sources. Ongoing series are fine too as long as there aren't hundreds of episodes to catch up on.

Any suggestions?

I personally recommend all of the higurashi series if you aren't weak of stomach/mind.

"When They Cry" on Hulu for the first series, okay, I'll watch it. The others don't appear to be available on any of the three sites that I mentioned in my original post.
That's definitely unfortunate. Well, if you're still curious after the first series (because I know, it leaves a lot unanswered on purpose), then you might end up hunting it down anyway =D
DO YOU WATCH THE ANIMAES?

Skip Beat is anime. :/
Watched the first four episodes of that series DT suggested.

To call it creepy would be an understatement. Although it was pretty good so I want to watch more. Just not now, before bed. I probably wouldn't sleep well.
I never knew people watched animes as a hobby. I mean you guys take it extremely seriously, like DT. He has his stuff all neatly listed like its some big deal.

Gosh guys, its just a cartoon.

No, it isn't really a big deal at all. Don't tell me you've never sat down on the sofa to watch a sitcom, reality show, or game show? There's really absolutely no difference.

Say you're watching 'America's Got Talent'. You follow it every week, and then the finale airs and it's over. After it is over, you might think "That was pretty cool, I want to watch more though." So you might start looking at other game shows for something to fill the gap now that AGT is over.

The only difference with anime is there is a lot of it. A whole lot. And while true, they are all just cartoons, there is an extremely wide variety of genres within it. For example, I just finished 'Skip Beat!', which was a bit of a comedy/love story, while DT suggested I watch 'When They Cry' which is way more of a horror series.

Japanese anime is also very poorly represented on American TV, so a lot of the titles are very obscure. Heck, talk to any Japanese person who says they enjoy anime and try to talk about your favorite shows with them, they'll probably find it obscure too.

With the large variety and multiple genres of obscure titles, the easiest way to watch a show is one of the many (MANY) internet resources that have massive libraries available for online viewing. I've only listed three of the more common legal ones, but there are plenty of other sites to browse a library full of anime titles and watch them too.

Sites like myanimelist (http://myanimelist.net) aren't really intended of showing off what you've watched as some sort of bragging right/trophy. It's more of a social networking site to hook up with others who also enjoy the same stuff you like and compare your compatibility through preferences in anime. This works very well because of the wide variety of genres, and also gives you something to talk about with the people you hook up with there and maybe even find something new to watch.

But when it all comes down to it, is really no different from regular TV. If I posted last night 'Lost' is cool! and went into how much I enjoyed watching it on Netflix, then posted today that I finished Season 6 and wanted something else to watch, would you really give it a second thought? The idea of watching a foreign cartoon mystifies some people, and others may even think it's cooler just because of where it is from, but it isn't really anything special like that.

Sure most people who enjoy anime do so because of preference in artistic style, plot structure, and culture. But yes, it is "just a cartoon". The same way House M.D. is "just a TV Drama", AGT is "Just a game show", and Myth Busters is "Just a documentary" (All of which I thoroughly enjoy, by the way). There is no arguing that. But there isn't really anything abnormal or strange about watching it as a hobby.
Of course. I've followed a full season of Hell's Kitchen, I watched Dragon Ball and even own 2 of the movies: the one with Broly and the one with Janemba.

But my point was it seems like you guys are taking it too seriously. There is no reason to make an entire list of all the animes you've ever watched as if it's an accomplishment. It's just not that deep IMO.

No, it's not deep. But you're missing the point of myanimelist.net. The point isn't that "Look at me! I've watched all this stuff!" It's, "Here is what I've watched and how I rate it." Because DT made a list, I can see that I have 39.8% compatibility with his anime preferences. I can also see that we've both seen a number of similar titles (probably more, since I haven't updated my list in years), and it gives me something to talk to him about.

As I previously stated, myanimelist.net isn't a place to show off, it is a social networking tool.

There is also no reason to share your opinion on the matter, especially if the matter is pointless in your opinion. It's similar to keeping a list of the books you've read, the movies you've watched, or the women you've slept with, what have you. It's a matter of what the person is interested in and some people enjoy chronicling and quantifying their lives.

In my opinion, you're an idiot. That didn't serve any purpose now did it. You're just stirring the pot because you're bored.

I feel like you're wrong. myanimelist.net is whatever you make of it. If you want to make a giant list for bragging rights, go ahead. If you use it to compare compatibility with other users or to discuss then that works too. Just quit wasting your time trying to justify the site to people who have nothing to offer but, "that is dumb." Do what you enjoy.

Put a bit harshly, but this is the point I've been making in my last couple comments. Mentioning stuff like "it is just a cartoon" or "it just isn't that deep" is an obvious jab at those who like watching anime, but it is really a non-issue.
Actually, since the troll is getting fed, I'll tell why I use it: to keep track of things I've seen once upon a time. It also helps me catalog them by how much I thought I liked them, and in addition, I can keep track of anime that I want to watch, so I don't have to keep them elsewhere (whiteboard, piece of paper, etc). It's also something I can point friends to when they ask for recommendations.
Of course it's a non-issue. I'm not saying DT should be banned from the website or the internet or shit like that. I'm just saying I don't see the point in it.

However, now that DT has explained what he uses it for, I feel slightly different. I appreciated his response more than Vermolius's "your opinion is invalid" nonsense.
