Descriptive Problem Summary:I've just started hosting a server on dream daemon. I have gone to my router and portforwarded the port 8080, and also allowed it on my firewall on my router. I have also gone to windows firewall and have added port 8080 to be allowed by windows firewall. When I host a game on dream daemon, it comes up with BYOND hub reports port 8080 can be reached by players, meaning that other players should be able to join. However when one of my friends try to connect, it says connecting, but then says connecting..failed. I have been having this problem for quite a while now. If anyone could help fix this problem I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks
P.S. If it helps I have a Netgear DG834PN router.

You might find that your ISP has blocked that port I would try another one before we dive any deeper into this.

Thanks for the help ATHK but ive already checked that on this website http://www.canyouseeme.org/ and i got this message: Success: I can see your service on 182.239.204.116 on port (8080)
Your ISP is not blocking port 8080 P.S. This is the second port I've tried |
Port 8080 is officially reserved for HTTP web servers (as an alternate to 80). As ATHK pointed out, you may have better luck with a different port number.
<edit> What was the other port you tried? |
oh btw i checked port 9876 oh http://www.canyouseeme.org/ and it came up with I could not see your service on 182.239.204.116 on port (9876)
Reason: Connection timed out |
Do you have any antivirus software on your machine that may also include a firewall?
|
Yes. I have zonealarm, and I disabled it, and now when i try port 9876 on http://www.canyouseeme.org/ it comes up Success: I can see your service on 182.239.204.116 on port (9876)
Your ISP is not blocking port 9876. Now its just a matter of seeing if my friends can join. Reply to u soon |
Canyouseeme says my port 80 is open but nothing is using it and it's blocked on the firewall .. strange hope you get it working though.
