I was looking back on my old posts and saw an old "game" screenshot that I had taken a while ago, when I first started pixel art/developing games. I decided to try to make a post apocalyptic tile set to gauge how far I've come since then.

This tile set it still a work in progress, but since the art society doesn't get as much posts as it use to, I've decided to post the intervals up here. This is after about a days work. With the exception of some assets like the trees done about a week ago.

Hmm, theres some weird stretching going on.

I like it. Are we gonna be expecting a game with these graphics? If so I am really looking foward to it.
Here's an update on the tile set. Changes include protective flour bags, crates, reworked pole, sun soaked colors, etc.

Very pleasant to look at great job keep up the good work :)

Only thing that's bugging me is the back of the blue car are the brake lights suppose to stick out that far? it just looks odd to me :)

Er, it probably shouldn't. I was trying to make one of those cars with the extended backs, and I did it without a reference. It'll be fixed in the next update.
Here's a good example - http://librapix.com.s3.amazonaws.com/ classic-and-vintage-cars.com/956.jpg

It just doesn't stick out as far.
Great style and use of perspective! Also, the trunk of that red tree is funky o.o

I do have some nitpicks though. The shadows for the trees and sandbags are from different light sources!! Some shading could also really improve the work here, but then that might just be the style. Also, the perspective of the traffic post seems a little weird. Maybe the top half should be a little bigger, or lighter shade of grey to make it seem "closer"? Also, comparing the perspective used in the buildings, the cars, the person and trees... it seems a little inconsistent across them.

Welp, there's my two cents. And now I have no cents left to buy dinner!

P.S. You said there was some weird stretching going on- to fix this you have to make sure the map control your viewing the icons through isn't stretching them, and its icon-size value is set to the same size as your tiles eg. 32x32
Going through the forums, to find something that might be worth playing, though its a mockup this stuff can be implemented easily. If its a shooter, I wouldn't mind playing it.
Thank you but i currently don't have any plans for this art. in fact I might have deleted it already but if not i might just post it up for free resources.

I really think you should do something with it, base icon's like this are capable of being made into a simple game many people would enjoy playing. With simple states and customization a large audience can be gained easily. Imagine a customizable shooter with people- never-mind, we can make it instead of talking about it.
It looks interesting but I have a couple of things to say about it.

1. The Lines on the street are too close together and are too short.

2. The building palette and sidewalk palette are very close (So it's hard to tell where the building ends.)

Things I like however are that the tiles are broken up by fillers like glass, paper, and cracked tiles.

Though the bodies of the base look like their mouth is on their chest O__O

I would really like to make an abandoned city with these icons, would it be okay if I copied the picture and took forever ripping the icons?

Thanks so much, now I won't be bored for a little bit. hah.
Very nice! My only problem is not with the art, but the fact that there is a wooden board nailed into a glass window in the first screenshot.
Looks great!
Hope you don't mind but I'm building a pallet around this!

Could you send me the pallet whenever you make it? D: I don't know nothing about creating pallets, and I would also like to attempt pixel art :[
This is an older work that I did around that city mock-up to practice animating 6 frame walk cycles. Ill most likely never go back and polish it or the other crappy animations that went with it but if someone else wants to put the work into it I think its got a solid start. Posted this here because I didnt see a point in a new thread.

Heres the dmi file.

Looks nice, head is a bit big for my liking, Love your work.
Whoa that was quick. I appreciate that, I do consider animations a major weak point of mine which is why i'm practicing.
