Hello guys,

The reason i'm starting this topic is because i'll most likely create a game based on Azure dreams, inspired by the gb sprites. But befor i do all that effort i'm trying to get a bit of input on players if they would be willing to play a game like that.

For those that are unfamiliar with azura dreams,
Azure Dreams places you in the town of Monsbaia, where you assume the role of a youthful monster tamer, who, on the day of his 15th birthday, is eligible to enter the Demon Tower and search for monster eggs. The eggs that you collect may either be sold or hatched. If you choose to hatch them, you can then take these familiars into the tower with you to aid you on your journey. The higher in the tower you go, the more difficult it becomes to progress, but the eggs you will find will contain rarer and more exotic monsters. Monsters can later be fused into stronger creatures, which can be of great assistance later in the game.

Ofcourse, i'll try to add new features to the idea and let it grow. The tower would just be the start

I think I like the idea only because of the tower aspect, but go for it. I'm sure if you simply make a fun game, people will play it.

thanks for the replay, so you'd like the idea of fighting your way to the next floor? rather then then the monsters/pets you can catch/fuse/train and so on?
I would only play this if it was something you made yourself and just took inspiration from Azure Dreams. I don't honestly care if the monster names are the same and they look similar but I would not play it if you ripped it completely. There's a point at which something turns from "your take" to "a copy of".

Also, that game was made by a team of highly trained and experienced people. There is no easy way to compete with them, and so it would be expected that you can never create a copy of it that was better. This has been proven time and time again with rips. So if you can't create a better copy, then I may as well just play the original... Which I have never played for a reason and I will never play for a reason.

So please if you do make a game based on this, make something up yourself and have it play like Azure Dreams.

it was never my intention to make a copy of azure dreams.
I adored the idea of fighting alongside your own 'pet'/monster. but i found Azure dreams lacking on the player skill department, and ofcourse i'd add in a few more things to do then 'just' complete the tower.
It might be hard to understand if you didn't play the game yourself

As for the experience, i'll build up little by little.. i'll get there even if it takes me a few years.

Thanks for the input Red, i appreciate it.
Seems like you really put some thought into your replay.
Well that's good you know what it didn't have which you really wanted but you'll need a lot more than taking the original game and adding more skills. Like, you need to make it your own game, not a copy of Azure Dreams.

Also, this project shouldn't take you years. If you want to build Azure Dreams again from scratch in another engine just to add some more stuff then you're wasting your time. The game was made, and your game would only be as successful as a mod for Azure Dreams.
