Good to hear that there's going to be a port! I look forward to reliving the glory days with the old gang.
Also good to know that the series lives on, I'll get over to the blog soon. |
I've updated the blog with a schedule. Head on over there to read about the last two weeks progress.
I'll be posting progress reports every Wednesday, and releasing something or running a test/demo every Sunday. |
If anyone wants to try out today's demo, it's up.

Sef and anyone else who cares, The CQ port is coming along pretty nicely. I'm hoping to have a fully playable, local multiplayer demo finished this month. Iain requested (not demanded, I should be clear) that I re-brand and so have been working with an artist on that front.
I don't have a fancy site like Iain, but I'll be making an updated blog post here: http://thexnahobbyist.blogspot.com/ hopefully tonight. It isn't much, but it should allow comments and such. The post will include details on the project, my plans for it, and a link to an early playable build. I'd very much like your all's feedback if you'll give it. Stay tuned. |
That video looks pretty damn good. Well done.
In unrelated new (I swear!) I was thinking yesterday that I might be wrong. I didn't want to spread out the community over several games or have my "thunder" stolen by coming out after CQX, but maybe neither of those things will happen. Maybe having the several games will only grow the community. I don't know, I have to think more on it. Edit: Maybe seeing 'Project Fennel' coming to life has given me better perspective. |
Speaking of which, there's a new project Fennel update live. Read about it here: http://antlerpig.com/blog?post=15
|
Thanks! Project Fennel isn't looking bad either!
While I've already acquired a committed artist, and a lot of really good inspired art, I'd be happy to keep the title, whatever you feel is best. I don't plan to change the design much. I guess on some level it becomes a question of enhance port or spiritual successor. EDIT: I promised a proper blog update, and now I've made good: http://thexnahobbyist.blogspot.com/2013/07/ the-real-cqx-update.html |
Ok, so I'm at a total loss on potential new names for the project. Casual Quest really fits it so well, that nothing I've been able to dream up does it justice. Iain, how sad would you be if I just went forward with the CQ title? (if the answer is more than a little, I'll keep working on it).
Everyone (anyone?) else, any suggestions? |
I think I may have settled on Carefree Crusade. It maintains the spirit while being different :)
|
We don't have to come up with a name yet, right? Ask me again in two weeks. There's something I need to take care of first.
|
I'm looking to start getting word out here pretty soonish, which is why I'm working toward nailing down a title. Not an immediate rush though, I'll ping ya in a couple weeks!
|
Carefree Crusade is a pretty cool name. It retains the same kind of theme as "Casual Quest". Sounds like a good name to me.

For those of you who still get your updates this way :P
The new demo is up: http://antlerpig.com/blog?post=18 |
Might as well drop this Dev Blog update here :)

And I never really asked why, and I still don't understand your reasoning for locking the hub completely. Can't you at least unlock it so we can host it and allow others to join? I can play the game itself just fine on my own, was it not playable before it was locked? This game died because it was murdered, not because people stopped caring. If the game breaks again whatever, kill it off completely all you like, because that would clearly mark the end of it. Don't acknowledge screwing us over and then do nothing about it though, that's even worse. If you really appreciate the support from us, the community, at least show some love in return. :\
