Well, if you ever have a spare day in the mall, stroll by the Apple Store and check your email on an iMac. You might find the just combination of delicious key presses!
You're actively trying to elicit a gag response now, aren't you? :)

These are close but no cigars, on the odd chance you decide to settle, these might be worth a mention:

The best place to get a keyboard, in my opinion, is the local dump (or computer melt-down and recycle facility, if you have one). You get to walk around, see the things outside any boxes or packaging, and hit the keys to your heart's content. Plus there's the whole adventure aspect, if you're into that kinda thing.
Of course, if you're looking for something fancy and expensive with backlighting and all that, then you probably won't find it in a junk pile. ...By the way, why would you want backlighting? I can't think of any practical reason for someone who knows how to touch type. |

I use an Apple Keyboard with Numpad. One of the biggest problems with the Apple keyboards is that they don't have the standard ctrl/super/alt layout. This is very frustrating to me when I use my brother's MacBook Pro. |

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/ product-page.aspx?pid=2054#dl (Wireless, With Mouse) Looks good except for the wireless part. That's something I have no intention of settling on. Too much of a pain. http://www.gigabyte.com/products/ product-page.aspx?pid=2906#sp (Wireless, With Mouse) Has the unacceptable Enter with the corner-nestled backslash. Also wireless. http://www.pccasegear.com/ index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=113_257&products_id=1 3946 (Limited backlit keys, possibly wrong key setup.) The Microsoft Sidewinder X4 is a possible contender. The key height looks rather low for my tastes and might be on the borderline of acceptability. This keyboard worries me however because it's tied to the one below. http://www.pccasegear.com/ index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=113_257&products_id=1 0 (Same as above, unsure about being able to remove wrist protector.) The Razer Lycosa's keys are definitely too low, plus reviewers have said this thing is a cheap piece of crap that is likely to break early in its life cycle. http://www.pccasegear.com/ index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=113_257&products_id=1 4843 (Unnecessary wank-factor, wrist protector seemingly mandatory (though possibly smaller than a standard one), compacted layout.) Too many negatives, and the key height is again way lower than I'd like. I can't tell what the key pitch is supposed to be either; you mentioned it's compacted but I didn't see any reference to key size; the layout itself doesn't look compacted to me. Danial.Beta wrote: One of the biggest problems with the Apple keyboards is that they don't have the standard ctrl/super/alt layout. This is very frustrating to me when I use my brother's MacBook Pro. Ah, excellent. Now I can preemptively shut the door on that option. I'd heard too many negatives about Apple keyboards anyway. |

I've changed the batteries in it once since I've bought it, roughly a year ago. |

Volume knobs and everything! Dunno if it's what your exactly wanting since theres only 4 media keys D: |

Also I'm not sure if the wrist rest is detachable, which if it's not is a dealbreaker because that thing is frickin' huge. |

Since the perfectly straight ones require your arms to be extending out of your chests, not your As for the wireless, I always hated wireless until I got this mouse/keyboard combo. The mouse is comfortable, and works on any surface, and the combo has required me to change batteries once, in a year. You probably change your TV remote batteries more than that. |
ya i don't think it's detachable... But another one i like is this one:

If I knew the key pitch was adequate it would be a contender, but I lack information. Mikau wrote: Dude, you fail at semantics. Yeah, and we all know a slight curve will completely and utterly destroy your heterosexuality. It's not 1980 anymore, and trying new things won't kill you. The keys are practically straight, they even look straight unless you're standing over them. Stop being a typical mid-life crisis burden, and try something new for once in your life. You never know, you might actually like it. |

This is a problem for someone who types for a living. For those who actually like this style, that's fine, but I will not buy an ergonomic. |

wow your kind of a jerk >.> no offense but maybe you shouldn't be so harsh to people who are trying to help since your to lazy to google yourself. Otherwise don't ask for people help if your gonna be a complete jerk to the replys...
Lighten up and try something new like you said this isn't the 1980's anymore so you might actually like the newer keyboards. |
"Practically" does not mean "actually". The keys are not straight; they are just slightly less curved than other ergonomic designs. That does not make it a standard design vs. an ergonomic; it is still ergonomic.
I might be open to trying a less-curved design than the one I used the last time if it was a freebie, but if I'm spending money on the thing I'm sticking with what I know I like. |
