So, I was going to my dad's friend's house today after I went to see what the problem was with one of my dad's friend's computers, and I happen to come across a wireless cable box sitting by the computer and hooked up to his router, I told him to only use one so that the connections won't interfere with each other. So he took my advice.
As I sat at the table pulling apart the box with a screw driver, and a few other things such as:
*Wires
*Connector chips
*Connection cables
ect..
He sat there and asked me some questions on how long have I worked on taking things apart and fixing them all over again.
I simply replied,"6-7 years at the most, I am actually the only one in my family who fixes things." I noticed clearly, that he didn't know a girl could be seriously into computer technology.
So I continued taking out the pieces of chips and the small colored light bulbs to replace with new ones, since the ones that he had were kind of useless now. So I actually HAD to rebuild the box, and then trash the old one away that was the second internet wireless box.
I gave him a few hard(people don't understand when I teach this) tricks to fixing things correctly, I taught him how to simply connect through the internet(Well I have something such as Comcast that you guys will know..
1 Log in to your router and enter the default password. The version of the firmware or the router that you are using will determine where the Change Password button is located.
2.if you have five computers, configure DHCP to hand out only five addresses.
I.P. Addresses to be exact if you forget.
3.Turn everything off, connect a network cable from the cable modem to the internet port on the wireless router.
You should still have your wired pc connected to one of the ports of the modem.
Turn on the cable modem and let all the lights come on and verify the internet is connected.
Next turn on the wireless router and let it get it's connection to the cable modem.
By the way:
It's good for hosting games too, and it's very steady :3

and so...yeah. it has the internet stuff..
Anyways, I finished with his modem and things were all running smoothly<3
Ask me how to port forward...

Ugh, why do you have a 1000 ports open for ftp? Do you even have a ftp server on a computer?
|
Yes, Soldierman, I do have a ftp server. It's actually a default..which some use..
|
And by the way, it's not a 1000ports open, it's one port open, it's for the port to be Forwarded to be able to host a game on the server..
|
Pictures shows start port of 1000 and end port of 2000, which means it has opens ports 1000 to 2000....

a port has to have a port number in order to host a game.. lol. Yes. But it doesn't need 1000 of them. |
._. no it's a port number that's assigned to it so that the port can be hosted into the dream daemon...not 1000 of them O.O

The ports FROM 1000 TO 2000 are being forwarded. If you only wanted one port to be forwarded, you'd do 1000 to 1000. |

It will error and say that the end port should be greater than the start. No it won't. |

You'll note that in the example they set both the start and end ports to 88. ALL routers do that. You're apparently unable to ever accept that you are mistaken, and I refuse to continue explaining how you are. Good day. |
