Agnosticism can be a religion, depending on you look at it. Basically, it is the belief that there is not enough to decide your beliefs one way or the other. So basically, it is the belief in the lack of belief >_> But it can be argued for, in that in any religious debate, it's clear there isn't enough evidence to support either side, thus supporting agnosticism with morecredibility than any other religion. | |
Zaole, that's his point. One CAN argue that he/she is unable to decide on their beliefs, but once a person believes in something, that argument becomes exceedingly difficult.

You compare not knowing whether there is or isn't a god to not knowing yourr own sex. Fact is, there are many, many, many facts you will have supporting what sex you are(hopefully) whereas there are very few facts supporting whether there is or isn't a higher power. It is not about being completely true, it is about being true enough to get people to believe it, and with many people, there is not enough truth associated with any religion to get them to believe it. Therefore, Agnosticism is perfectly valid. What you are talking about, Garthor, is Nihilism, basically believing in nothing. | |

And another point: why don't you profess the impossibility of knowing the existence of the flying spaghetti monster, or fairies, or leprechauns, or unicorns, or Hercules, or any number of other made-up fairy-tale shit? I've always considered agnosticism the lack of a religion.
And I never really considered it possible to "argue for" agnosticism, because you don't really have anything to argue for.
