I have skimmed through most of BYOND's design philosophy and not many people discuss the actual "design philosophy". Mechanics and how the system works is what i find happens for the most part. I think these videos will be a bit helpful with creating a deeper game experience than we have here on byond.

Two of those links with egoraptor are nsfw due to language.

If you find more things related to game design and philosophy feel free to post them here.
Hmm, I think a lot of this is good if you're able to ask as many questions as they attempt to answer. In other words, I don't think is is handing anyone the secret to good game design methods but it's teaching the kinds of questions to ask which encourages thoughtful game design.
I love extra credits. It really gives insight into certain matters withiin the gaming industry and in game development even if you're interest in making games is simply a hobby.
I've listen to a few penny arcades, very good stuff so far, I'll comment on the other videos later.
Few penny arcades epi 5 : "Echo" mentioned. *cries desperately on good old days*
I might watch them later. *Follows*
I can't believe the Squidi 300 didn't make this list.
