Project: PopLava Resource Center

Beta Tester Requirements:
1. I must be familiar with you
2. You must be an experienced BYOND coder and I know who they are for the most part.
3. You should enjoy writing examples, demo's, libraries, and/or be a pixel artist.
4. You should long to earn a little money doing what you love which is being involved with software development.
5. You must make a small leap of faith for the next requirement.
6. You must be willing to transfer a minimum of 5$ to a paypal account. This is actually part of the testing that needs to be done.
7. You have what it takes to keep the project under wraps until its time to go public.

The testers will be tasked with the following things.
- Just use the Resource Center
- File feedback and bugs

If you have been following the PopLava efforts at all, you will have some idea of the types of projects I'm working on. You will also know that I'm not trying to steal your whopping 5$ (which is less than a McMeal). I will only bring on one or two people for this beta testing and if they feel like they have been robbed, they will say so. I promise you, that will not be the case.

These one or two people will have a jump start over all other contributors. I can't be sure of the success of this project but the few people I've invited for specific testing, have (in my own words) loved it so I'm hopeful at this point.

Feel free to ask questions but details of the project will not be discussed at this time. If you don't want to give up 5$ without knowing more... I truly understand. I'm looking for opportunists who are willing to weigh in the wee risk for some fun and unforeseen gains.

Please reply here with your willingness to join the beta testing. I will hopefully pick a couple volunteers to move forward with.

Thanks,
ts
I have faith this project will succeed immensely.
This seems to be a blind gamble. I'd like to know more about this resource center, to decide if I want to spend my time testing it.

You have nothing to benefit from denying me that at least.
I look forward to hearing more from this.
1. You should know me I am one of the biggest trolls in the Community.

$5. Lolol.

$5 is pretty meh, the lost time over potentially something personally uninteresting is what really puts me off.
If only to find out what the hell PopLava is, I'll do it. I'll send the cash on Wednesday.

You're not a troll, People don't consider you one. You're a moron.

Moron =/= Troll

This sounds completely legit and not at all suspicious...

Yes. Clearly ts is going to throw away his BYOND reputation for ~$15*, an amount he's already spent at least twice as much of on BYOND memberships.

*(before paypal fees)
'2. You must be an experienced BYOND coder and I know who they are for the most part.'

Damn, I'd love to see that list.
Actually, it would make for a funny effort trying to compile a list of competent programmers on BYOND.

- Just use the Resource Center

Well, what should it be used for. If you select people that can estimate their potential personal gain on the feature, I would wager that you'd get a lot more feedback than from somebody who just tries to find a bug or two.

If that would be a criteria, we wouldn't have any trolls with a BYOND membership around, which is sadly not the case :p

(Not saying that I don't trust freaksy boy, or that he's a troll, or that he'd rob anybody, or you know what I mean!)

How can you guys not have faith in him? Just look at this diagram to see what PopLava is all about. It will answer all your questions.
I imagine heavy tools involving giant drilling platforms, mostly. That diagram only really served to add to my own diagram of ??? I'm afraid.

It's extremely difficult to grasp what any of this means currently, there seems to be no apparent context to any of it. The resource centre I can kind of guess what it may do, chances are my guesses are completely wrong though as I'm not sure what such a tool is meant to support, aside from "programmer / artist things".

This is a pretty significant barrier to entry for all involved. I am after all a programmer, I would hope you can reason out the merit of .... whatever PopLava is, if you actually wanted someone such as myself to join it for example. I'm not too much into that whole voodoo buddha praying faith stuff you see, particularly not with technical things. I like to be able to reason why I would join something, before I join it. I'm quite big on that, logic, you know.
I'm not looking to join a development team, I'm just curious what it's about. If it requires any programming on my end, count me out. Beta testing to me means testing stuff, not making stuff to be tested. <.<

Who knows. Could be resources for blogging development progress for all we know, or mass marketing your goods, or customer management or ... ???

The full post which describes everything in the diagram can be found here.

If you become a member of PopLava, you will find more information about PopLava in the forum. I intend to do some house cleaning over the next few days which includes revising the vision.
