If I were to write a fairly thorough tutorial on how to use Dream Maker, how to make a game, and how to get it on the hub and whatnot, how many people might read it?
Lately a lot of people have been itching for me to help them learn to program games and I'm getting rather tired of repeating the stuff over and over. My two options are to either stop helping or write a tutorial and refer everyone to it...
All of the files would be here on my blog, and I would appreciate any input from other programmers as to what I should add in or change.
There will be 5 to 10(possibly much more) zip files containing folders, HTML documents, examples, and executable files on that particular section.
So, if you would like me to do this, let me know.

I'd read it. =)

Ooh! Jack I would definitely read it to help with my game!
(especially if you included a good login system with saving and what not since i am having trouble with finding one that doesn't screw up and overwrite things or whatever) |
After I do a few lessons to explain how to do the basics, I would do a few lessons on things such as HUDs, different types of login systems, and other more "advanced" stuff.

Mmm... so far only 7 people would like me to do this. I was hoping for atleast 10, so if 3 more people would like for me to make a tutorial, please contact me today or post here.

I'll address a lot of the common problems, after the first 5 to 10 lessons explain the basics. I'll teach how to use savefiles, the "no put usr in proc, ughn" rule, how to understand runtime and compiletime errors, how to sniff out errors, and much much much more.

I would read it, although I'm a decent coder. I would like a section of the tutorial to explain how to put menus in the browser window, and text boxes and little fill-in selection bubble thingehs in a const.

that explains everything quite well. people still don't know the basics because they don't bother to read the guide. if you made 5-10 lessons to explain the basics, i don't think that many more people would read them either. i suspect the problem with the DM guide is that it teaches programming, not game making. most people want to learn how to make a game and don't want to be bothered with all these variables and loops, even though that's how you make games. if you want to make a tutorial i'd suggest covering topics not covered by the DM guide (putting a game on the hub, for example), using HTML pages with BYOND (like spade mentioned), or fixing errors (like you mentioned). |
id read it, though id have no idea what it meant :/ i r teh icons, not programming. Though i wouldnt mind learning how to program/ the other steps to make a game.

I'd read it. I wanna make a game and don't even know how to start. It would be so hopeful if you make one.
