Nah, don't add more shading, just fix your current method of shading.

It matters what type of shading you do for which type of game your making it for, like pillow shading, lighting, block, or even your own kind >.> But compared to your old base, very good job I can really tell improvement xD

Pillowshading is actually horrible in general.
:( it makes my eyes feel tarded'. |
You really need to up the contrast on the shades. You can barely tell that it's shaded ATM.
Pillowshading is okay, but I've never seen anything impressive from it. Try to use a light source from the left or right once you get away from pillow shading. |

I can't really say that I like your base because it's so generic. Nothing exactly sets it apart from the 200+ other bases being used on BYOND. Same big eyed, pants-only, muscular guy.

Well im sorry you feel that way about my base. And thanks for your view but i think im goin to stick to that way of creating bases until i develop other things like shading and lighting.

So everyone else does it, you should too? Follow the leader?
My honest opinion is that the base sucks. Sorry. Shading looks horrid, too muscular arm wise, and the length of the arms is too long (looks like a monkey) or something (it's not proportionate), and legs do not get bigger as they go down. k |

Ahhh i didnt notice that ty. Ill get to it.

I never seen your other work but this 1 is great! ^_^
You got good potential. 1 Thing your shade is awesome. Just the light should come from above and from the left or right. Now it look like a car is about to hit the mob or a flashlight cop stop him. If any were the case you did great shade for it dont delete it. Aside from that Good Job! Shade the pants, and make the top eye-white shaded. |

It looks good for one of your first bases, though try a shading source from top right/left(Like everyone else said), the generic pillow shading is kinda dull for bases.
|
It's a good start and a huge improvement on your last one. Keep going on the shading. IMHO, Z is right, no matter where you put those colors, tho, you'll hafta increase the contrast (the amount they differ in lightness and darkness from each other) in order for it to have any effect (but don't go overboard either - a hige amount of contrast will only make such a small sprite look scrambled and confused).

Actually if just put a darker shade in the Armpit area, to help separate the arm from the torso, that might do the trick.
