Why the heck did school have to end? I mean, if BYOND only takes up 4 hours per day, the Battlecruiser: Millenium demo episode II takes up another 4 hours, eating takes up 2 hours, watching TV takes up 4, and sleeping takes off another 10... I don't have any free time!
* Spuzzum is now a graduate of the 11th grade in the terrible Lower Mainland education system, which is a vicious life-sucking bitch from which there is no escape.
Unfortunately, I didn't do too great in Math 12, so I might have to do correspondence over the summer to bump it up from a C, to a B or an A, to meet BCIT's minimum requirements for their software engineering course. =P
This annoys me to no end. I'm overqualified for the course regarding actual computers, but I'm underqualified regarding mathematics. And for some reason, the math is more important to them. Give me a programming language, and a month, and I'll learn most of it. Give me a math textbook, and a month, and I'll stare at it, and then go get a programming language and learn most of it. ;-)

Yesterday I went to get my hair cut and didn't notice till I got in the car that it was 1/2 an inch longer on the right side than on the left. That stinks too. Not as much as school though. I'm out of school, I don't have a car, and my hair is too short to be lopsided, it just sticks up on top most of the time. This isn't fair, I have nothing good to complain about. Oh yeah, I can always complain about DBZ, but that gets old. |

I can't think of how many times I've thought to myself, "Thank God I knew how to program a parabola into my game!" Seriously though, I have seen many games with parabolas that do not directly have the mathematical formula for one. The programmer may not have even realized he put it in there! Hell, the old 8 bit Nintendo Mario Brothers game produced a parabolic arc when you jumped while moving sideways at a constant speed. People use things without understanding them all the time... "its fact." |

People use things without understanding them all the time... "its fact." As Shadowdarke accurately stated, you don't need a full mathematical brain for anything but number crunching programs. If you're making a game, generally, anything that is relatively balanced will be accepted. Fortunately, I understand parabolas. What I hate, though, is solving quadratics. I hate that, and I'm never going to be a nuclear physicist, so I don't have any idea why I'm not allowed to just punch the damn thing into my graphing calculator and have it do that for me! |
