I would like to set up turfs to belong to multiple areas. In the map editor, if I cover a section with an area, than select another area and right click within the first area, there is an option in the menu to 'insert above top most area'. However, this is ALWAYS greyed out (for me at least). Ive tried setting areas to different layers, child parent groups, unrelated areas and I can't figure it out. Is this possible and if so, what the heck am I not doing?

EDIT: If this isn't possible, what is that greyed out option for?

I'm guessing this means no :(

Since turf.loc is the area it is in, there's not a way to put any turf in multiple areas. The best you could do this is to define an area that has characteristics of both the areas you want the turf to be in.

Thats kind of what I figured, the greyed out option just kind of got my hopes up. Im using a modified version of your day/night code combining the two methods to create some minimal amount of gradient luminosity. The problem is in order to do this, I have to change a lot of turf areas and I'm having trouble figuring out how to keep area specific code. I may have to basically create two of all outside areas, one normal, one player_lit. I guess I could also define my own 'area'datum to use for map teleporting, area messages and such.

P.S. I would still like to know what the greyed out option is for. :)

Things you can have multiples of in one turf--mobs or objs.

Except that the only thing this greyed out option shows up for is 'areas'. If you select a mob, turf etc. you get a different option.
