This is typical in MUDs/MMORPGs and the like. I have done that a fair bit myself, but only when I have been pressed for time, and im getting better at typing er...properly(I hope). The term "AOLer" refers not to people who use AOL, but to the type of losers who bother to type garbage like "u R kewl d000dz!!!!1!1!!". It's the style, not the ISP. As I understand it, the term's origins come from the fact that so many of those idiots populate various chat rooms all over AOL. (I actually learned chat etiquette in an AOL chat room, but it was a game room--a very different atmosphere from most AOL chats--where we didn't take kindly to scrollers, or those morons who like to ask "a/s/l".) That kind of typing just reflects lazyness in my opinion. Usually they ask code problems that way, if why should I put out the effort to help them, if they can't put out the effort to write their questions properly?
