I sometimes scramble through the hub to find a game to play, if it is good or not, and I usually find a game that is nowhere near playready, so i had this idea.
Scince we have alott of people that play these games and byond has become such a big society, i think that this idea would be perfect for people that just wish to play a game without logging onto a barely started map with close to no coding.
With this thought I have pondered a seemingly good idea for the future of the hub.
1) Remove all current games and place them into a "Temporary Hub Folder", Here people can play a game, vote if it should make the hub, and if the game isnt voted it should be removed.
** Being 5 or more votes, and possibly an address guard
so no one can cheat by creating a new name and voting that way**
** This would remove all games from the hub that no one plays or likes, leaving more space for the games people like to play.
2) The idea of separate sections for groups should stay too, I like this idea and also, i believe this could make Dan and Tom a small profit for their hardships. **BY the way, you should have a donate to the producers button somewhere, unless i blindly missed it.
Just a small idea i had

It'll take us a little time to get all the functionality we'd like to have in the hub, since we are also doing a lot of work on BYOND itself these days. Perhaps we can start by having a channel for previewing games before they move into the official list. In general, the main channels are going to have to be limited to games that are actually ready for players, not just demos of ideas that are yet to be fully implemented. Anyone can still host games in development in order to get play-testers, but I think that only has value when the designer is there playing the game too, so they can get immediate feedback. --Dan |
I'm not sure I like the voting scheme. Removing a game from easy view simply because it's forgotten seems all too real a possibility, yet I think DBZ games (which contribute the worst clutter) are likely to garner more than 5 votes easily from the endless parade of nauseating fanboys who create and play the stupid things.
I do, however, like the idea of giving each game user ratings and reviews. These should be marked with a version number, though, so no one sees a "This game sucks 'cause it isn't finished" review for version 0.7 that simply doesn't apply to version 1.4. Alternatively, each person could have a "my favorite games" listing that other people could check out for quick recommendations, if they judge that that person has similar tastes. Lummox JR |

Yeah, Amazon has "Lists of 10" or something, where you can create a list of your 10 favorite whatever, and that works pretty well. Then in addition to linking to those lists, a game could have a numerical rating based on the number of lists (that might be dangerous though, since people will create shell accounts to drive up numbers.) |
