I am looking for a person who I can trust to hold files from my computer on their computer if they have enough Hard Space left to hold some of my files as I want to format both my Hard Drives because I am getting sick of it constantly crashing and I am getting sick of it stop loading things on BYOND because it says I have ran out of memory when I know for sure I havent. I am also getting sick of it not letting me on Dream Seeker at times because of this too...:(
So I am looking for someone who I can trust to hold some of my files until I format both my hard drives and then once I have done so I will take back my files so I can then get back to where I was but in better shape :)
So if anyone would like to help me out please post on here ok.
Lee
[Edit]P.S. If your interested I would like to know how to contact you so I could send my files to you as sending via "E-Mail" will take far too long to do.

Why is everyone's first instinct to format their hard drive when the operating system decays? It is possible to fix most of that sort of thing without going to the trouble of formatting, and likely as not whatever usage brought on that behavior is only going to bring it back.

Exactly, I was having bad freezing problems, and I thought I would have to format, turns out one of my ribbons was in front of my CPU fan causing it to get hot, that triggered the CPU alarm (which the sound was off at the time) and caused my computer to freeze.

Ribbons? My Computers fan sometimes make a grinding sound but i punch the tower and it sorts it out. |

It's been my experience that the worst intermittent problems are about half hardware, half software. OS decay is a big concern, but hardware issues can never be ruled out. Heck, any number of plausible issues can cause a problem:

When I was working (well, work experience, but I was better then most of the full time techs there ) almost -all- of the problems were either CPU fan, Power supply, or PEBKAC errors @.@
Elorien (problem exists between keyboard and chair ^_~ ) |
You must not have a CD burner... That would be the simplest method of backing things up...
I'd say your next best bet is getting a HUGE stack of disks and start filling them up...lol And then as a last resort I'd be asking others to temp store your files for you... |

Thanks for this but its actually software that is on the system that is buggering up my computer and it has been doing it alot for atleast 2-3 months now and its all because of my stupid brothers who install things then delete the files when done playing instead of uninstalling them. I have loads and loads of bad files and things like that. I know this because I use ScanDisk alot and I have many many bad sectors which are all software related. This is why I am reformatting my computer and then starting up from scratch again. This is because I want to sort these errors out by ridding them from the Hard Disks and then the computer will run better for me and I will be able to get more done for myself from there on. Nadrew knows about my computer crashing, freezing, running out of RAM at login at times and such because when I talk to him I often find this happening. He has had times where its crashed and then I re-logon after I turn the machine back on from the crash/freeze and what not then not long after it does it again. Plus I want to rid these errornous files because it is also affecting the DreamSeeker that I use because now and then it doesnt let me on it which is not the software of BYONDs fault but the stupid crap that my brothers stick on. Once I am done sending my files to my friend I will format both Hard Disks and then I will get the files back (36.1MB in total size) Not much but I need those certain files because most of them are files for College, some for BYOND (Games and such)...Also I am going to monitor from then on what my brothers are going to put on the computer because I aint having it doing this again. A 56k modem is slow for sending and recieving large files. But I am in need to do this. Once, that it is done I will hopefully be happier and if so I will make sure that my brothers dont put nothing else on this computer without my concent... I hope you understand why I am doing this. you'd be amazed at what freeware programs like RegClean can do to get rid of unwanted entries (from programs not uninstalled properly)...I find that to be the cause of many problems with Windoze...once RegClean has done its job, you should find that many of the left-over problems from deleted software disappears. Also, something like Norton's Registry Optimizer can pack the registry database smaller to make it load faster and cleaner.
oh, and a CDROM burner is cheap now-a-days - and a must have for backups...I currently have over 35 GB of CD Backups...and it has saved me several times when Windoze has gone really south for the winter... |

I want a CDROM burner...but, I need to get rid of some stuff of the computer because I am quite low in Hard Drive space and once I have formatted both Hard Drives I will have more space than what I used to hehe. Also The games will be going on my slave drive (D:) and the main things like programs will be on my main drive (C:). Plus I wont allow my brothers to install programs on my computer anymore without me knowing what the program is and what it does...If I think it is ok then maybe I will allow it but if not then it wont go on. :) I have 2.8GB between two Hard Drives which is crap...But when I have enough money and when I have been on my trip I will save up for a newer computer and then let my brothers do what they want to the one I currently use. Plus I am goin gto upgrade the 64RAM that it currently has to maybe 128MB/256MB RAM Lee |
