(This time I got the right forum!)
I was just wondering how many people find themselves up all night programming, then fall asleep like around 7am or whatever, and then wake up at like 1pm fully rested, and start programming again? Yeah I know I have no life :D

I usally sleep 'til 1:00 PM all the time, but when I find that I went to sleep at 7:00 AM, I usally end up with a killer headache, and not really wanting to do ANYTHING.

I almost never take medicne for headaches, and as a result (this is just my thoughs) I hardly ever get headaches, and when I do, they generally go quick :)

Like almost any experienced coder can tell you (and a good haldful of them have told me) you are bound to think more clearly and produce better quality code when you are properly rested. Caffine is not the answer to a code problem, nor is insomnia. Put on a lulleby and go to sleep! Wake up the next morning and start back to work.
*sarcasm* I can't wait for friday when I get to start completly recoding TextMUD due to the tonnes of errors I'm finding with it. :-\ |

You know the bad part, going to sleep at 5:00 AM, and having to wake up at 6:00 AM for work, I'm a teacher assistant, and boy does the teacher get mad when I fall asleep when I'm grading something...
NOTE: Nadrew's normal "bedtime" is 4-7 AM General Mountain Time. |
Me? I stay up to 4:00 am attempting to stay up all night, give up after deciding I still have enough time to get some sleep, go to bed, get up with my alarm at 8:00, change it to 9:00 and go back to sleep, get up at 9:00, decide I can just "rest" for another 15 minutes, fall completely asleep again, wake up after 12:00 and realized I've just missed my entire first day of classes this semester.
Not that that ever happened or anything. -AbyssDragon |

Suuure, I missed one of my classes last week, it happens to teachers, and their assistants! |

Yeah, but I slept through all of my classes. On the first day of the new semester.
Thats just pathetic. -AbyssDragon |

LOL I don't think so!
I programmed a LOT of QBasic crap when I was 12. When I was 13 (still using Win3.1.1), I started into Windows programming using Delphi1 :D. It stayed like that for about a year, then when I was 14, I got the internet, and started using things like VERGE. Later getting Delphi4, I also started using that :) Around the time I turned 15, I started playing around with C++, going on to do some WinGUI programming, OpenGL, and GNOME(Linux) GUI programming. So no, this isn't my first programming experince :D |

I got the internet I'm not trying to be rude, but I'd just like to point out that this phrase is one of my pet peeves. The internet has several million computers, thousands of miles of wiring, and contains many many terrabytes of data. There's no way you have it all. You do, however, have a connection to it. :-) -AbyssDragon |

The internet has several million computers, thousands of miles of wiring, and contains many many terrabytes of data. I'd say, combined, on the order of several petabytes, exabytes, or even ultrabytes, actually. (P.S. It's "terabytes". ;-) ) |

I think I have most of the internet cached (as cookies :p) to my 80gig HD :)
As a Compuserve user unwillingly connected to an AOL server (Compuserve is aol, it's just a coverup!), I must say with this 56k getting around 4.5-5.5kb/sec on average is decent :) Not to mention the luxury of dynamic IPs and multiple servers making it a bitch to track me :) Actuially last year when I learned about cookies, I deleted the 28,000+ that were in there :) I LIVE on the internet since I'm homeschooled, and I do my work infront of the computer (infront, not *on*), so that's why I'm not only an obsessive programmer, but I am developing a recessive tendancy (did I spell that right?) :D But ANYWAY it's 12:51am, and the night is still young :) |

I sometimes stay up till about mabey 12am, goto sleep wake up at two, go back to sleep at about five, wake up at 8, eat and do it all over again
Note my mom's work Schedual almost allows this as she works from 5am to 2pm and My schedual allows this as I`m homeschooled and since i dont have to wait for the teacher to explain everything to a whole class, I usualy get the work done fast most nights its 4:50am(I goto sleep then because my mom usualy wakes up then) and wake up at 2am, and then do it all over again, but I find I do my best work when i`m well rested, so I`m trying to goto bed early, so MAYBE I`ll get more work done Most I`ve ever stayed up(in Hours) 30 *Yawn* better go if I wanna fix my game *side note* anyone know how many bugs Zelda:Ocarina of Time(64) has? well multiply that by 22million and thats how many bugs my game has(or it seems like it)I`m opted to restart. *Time Note* All times in this useless post are (GMT -6:00)Central Time(US and Canada) |

Darn, even my futuristic 2000GBPS Modem would take a while to download the whole thing...

Wow that's sorta what I do :) I go to sleep when my mom wakes up.. too bad I have to wake up 3 hours later to meet my artist to do more with the game :p I usuially end up making up craps of work on the weekend, which is why ever since I've been homeschooled, I've hated weekends :D

I'd say, combined, on the order of several petabytes, exabytes, or even ultrabytes, actually. Whoops. "Terrabytes" was a typo. I couldn't remember "petabytes" or "exabytes". I almost wrote "exobytes", but I knew that wasn't right. I'm not sure I've ever seen "ultra" used like that... -AbyssDragon |

If you're ever going to work for a large scale gaming company as a programmer/debugger/anything_but_customer_service, you better rethink that :P Then again, thats getting payed for it, a whole different world.
