I need to know if byond will work on win xp. I tried it on win2k but when i opened the program it crashed the computer and then it killed the computer. Seeing how win2k and winxp are similar i really need to know if it is compatable with win xp please tell me.
Raven has a story for you... Raven updated his OS from Win98 Second Edition to Win XP and BYOND worked.... BUT... Raven wasn't able to get back on his keyname... He tried the question thing... But he forgot his answer... Filled with all this anger, and hatred... You know what Raven did? He politely and sincerely emailed Dantom and told them what happened... And somehow they trusted that Raven was actually Raven and they reset his password... And he lived happily ever... Ok well maybe not but you get the point.

Hehe, that problem wasnt linked directly to Win XP upgrade. And I am using Win2K now and byond works just fine... Try it, but make a back up of all your BYOND files, like icons, code, sav files maybe...

If BYOND crashes on startup, try the debug.bat in the new beta version. It gives us invaluable debugging information so we can figure out the source of trouble.

Byond works fine with me, i have Windows Xp, i had a problem to start off with but it wasn't byond, you see Windows Xp has a built in Firewall, i just took that off and now i can play byond.
The -only- compatablility problem Ive -ever- had with WinXP (Im running it at home and loving it, even if its a b**** to secure) dealt with some programs trying to take over resolution, and then putting the monitor to sleep.

In -every- case that this happened, it was because I was trying to run a program from an NTFS partition, rather then a FAT32 partition like they were designed too. So if you have problems, try installing the program to a FAT partition instead ^_~

Elorien, who is a much better tech then a Byond coder @.@ but she's workin on that

My WinXP's firewall was never active.. The problem I had with byond was that my password had been changed, coincidently during the 4-9 hours that I spent upgrading and configuring. When I booted up in Win98 I was able to get on my key. But in WinXP it was accepting my old password but then it asked me to type in the new password... I think it may have something to do with the keyinfo text files in the byond folder.
