yes, but how long will it take you to do that with switchable camera views? Besides, what your basicly saying is how do I make a movable player character in a 2d (top view) view. I also doubt that it will be used by companies to make thousand/million dollar sellers that will be made world-wide saying on the box "Must have BYOND". While it does help your resume when getting a job, it's just not used for anything to sell for big money (not trying to sound like thats all I care, but it's not bad, right?).

More choices at creation or cute little essays by players are no substitute for dynamic roleplaying. Players have to act. There is no quick fix. I cannot stress how much blind faith in one will make a lot of games so much worse. ;) I know, what I was talking about was the player should think about how their character acts and play it. their history too. I beleive roleplaying helps just about anygame (mind the diablo's, they are just not good with roleplaying :)). |

Nonsense! The Enchanted Monkeys of Foomeria laugh at your cabbage flinging monkeys, and will out-field them with pineapples!

Yes, most of us would love to have more control over the look of the client. I don't see it as a major problem though. If you develop good solid game play now, the graphics are just icing on the cake that you can add when Dantom gets around to implimenting the various client customizations. If you can't develop a strong base for your game, then all the pretty graphics in the world won't make it worth playing. yes, but ever play a game where you say "Y'know, this is ok, but the graphics are really horrible"? Sometimes you have to have good graphics to make the game go anywhere. Gaming standards today have changed drasticly. I know that if they made FFX with graphics used in FFXI (japanese wise that is) and released it in with all these current games, it would maybe lose some fans, wouldn't attract many new fans, and most of the players would be ones who have been since the FF7 (american) or previous ones. Really, some games just need the graphics, I played Armorines for Nintendo 64, and the graphics were all out horrible. Maybe some better graphics and I would've stayed for atleast another hour or two. |

yes, but ever play a game where you say "Y'know, this is ok, but the graphics are really horrible"? Yes, but this only applies to shallow games that have no real content, and have to rely on graphics to keep it interesting. |

Hey, if I can enjoy CTF2, that's all it takes :o)
I've personally had bad experiences with monopoly though. ("Oh, was it your turn? We skipped you. Sorry.") |

I just wanna say, don't let these guys get you down Geo, you're right on here. I just picked up a book the other day and I opened it up and I was like "WTF d00d! It's all text!" I don't got anything against old sk00l stuff like that, but these book publishers, geez, they should know better than to try and push that crappy ASCII stuff in today's market. Cards are the same way--I was playing poker with some friends a couple nights back, and whoever brought the deck like really needs to upgrade. They were all flat 2d stuff and it wasn't even rendered that well. I don't know who these people are trying to fool pulling this crap, because I certainly can't have any fun with dated graphics like that.
