I also doubt that it will be used by companies to make thousand/million dollar sellers that will be made world-wide saying on the box "Must have BYOND". Of course not. Professional boxed games written in the BYOND system will automatically install BYOND from the CD, just like many games install the latest version of DirectX if you don't have it. |

yes, but ever play a game where you say "Y'know, this is ok, but the graphics are really horrible"? Sometimes you have to have good graphics to make the game go anywhere. No, not unless the colors clash so harshly that I can't stand the sight of them. I still spend a few hours every week playing ASCII text rogue-style games like ADOM and Dungeon Crawl. That reminds me, my naga venom mage is still stuck on level 8 with an ice dragon skeleton. I'll have to go see if I can get him out of there! |

'No Graphics are everything!' 'You smell funny' 'I know you are but what am I?' Kinda threads. Theres no reason why a game shouldnt have BOTH gameplay AND graphics. Gameplay is nothing if the player cant get into the swing of the game because the graphics outright turn them off. And theres no point in the fanciest graphics if the game has no play value. Any decent designer should strive for BOTH. IMHO, byond is doing really good for quality gameplay (not counting the DBZ games), and with better graphics (Most games arent even using 1/20th of what byond is capable of IMO) we could probably see more people coming to byond, more people using dimes, and more people actually making some small compensation from their hours and hours of hard coding work. I wasn't sure if your humoring me or are really telling the truth, but that was actually pretty funny. A little bit of both. I do think that it's a good practice to hold modern game developers to high graphical standards, for one reason and one reason only: That's what you're paying for. C'mon--would [game so-and-so] really cost $50 if, rather than licencing a full-featured 3D engine and then modifying it to meet the project's needs, designing 3D models for all the game elements and scripting flashy graphics effects, instead the development team merely had written it to be a text-only game? Hell no. If they're going to insist on making everything in 3D, they'd sure as hell better do a good job of it, because otherwise they're just wasting your time, your money, and your CPU resources (those big flashy graphics do loads of good when they're displayed at 0.2 FPS). Now, as to your assertion that games require good graphics to be fun, I do think that that is absurd. Sure, some older games have graphics so ugly that I can't stand them, but there's a massive difference between "plain" and "ugly." I have no problem with graphics that fall in the former category. My problem is, as I said above, when game developers make graphics a priority (as they pretty much always do in today's game market) and try to make their game be both a fun, innovative play concept and an awe-inspiring visual treat... then end up failing at both. If game developers stuck with simpler, more functional graphics, then in general their games would probably turn out cheaper, get done faster, end up more polished, and run more smoothly. It's perfectly sensible to prefer better graphics, but to make them a priority over all of the above and gameplay is ludicrous. |

Actually, no... "DBX" I believe is a DBZ-inspired hentai manga series out there somewhere...
A more suitable variable would be "DB[blank]" or something along those lines... |

Did I fail to mention that this particular "DBZ-monkey" contains enough power to wipe out entire planets (if not entire planetary systems) with a simple energy blast (which he can fire with a mere thought)?
And did I also fail to mention that this particular "DBZ-monkey" is none other than Goku...the hero and main character of all three series? Which means, by default..he's the winner...lol But since your monkies are immortal...I suppose he'll have some trouble dealing with them... However...he has nothing to fear from them... |

Yes, but your DBZ-monkey is a mere figment of imagination drawn onto a piece of paper and scanned into the computer. He should be no trouble to deal with at all.
**Prints out DBZ-monkey and sends him through the paper shreader** Take that, super-powered monkey! |

Nonsense, Foomerian monkeys are all over, you're just not looking hard enough. Just because YOU haven't seen them, doesn't mean they're a figment of imagination.
