I need C++, VB, and Byond experts to help me make a DBZ fighting game online, the game ideas consist of;

A fighting game with;
-Single player story mode (Story fights, training etc.)
-Multiplayer bash, CPU/Human players (up to 6 at once)
-Training/Move learning
-Online server, with a Hub to wait for players.

The single player mode will include battles from the start of DBZ (Saiyan saga) to the end (Buu saga)

Multiplayer will include around 25 characters including;
Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Gohan, Trunks, Radditz, Frieza, Cell. And many many more!!!

The training/move learning mode will allow players to build up thier skills offline, so they can fight with them online. (Note: players will have a choice between build up stats or for the lazy ones, permanent stats when connecting to an online server)

The online server should be capable of 4 players simultaneously fighting.

Sounds cool huh? Well I need a coder to code it all. I can provide images of characters, backgrounds and ideas.

The coder will get awknowlagement and be able to play multiplayers with the Extreme players (When they max out their stats, they become Extreme).

Nope.

If I wanted to do it I would just make the game myself and take all the credit :p

Man, you guys are just being stupid now.

I didn't post this message for idiots like you to read it. I posted it for C++ experts and VB gurus.

If no one likes DBZ then why are there so many games here?
YEAH ANSWER ME THAT YOU LITTLE ****
In response to Radditz234
Sure there's alot of DBZ games. BUT do you see the makers posting here? And no we're not being stupid, we're being logical.

As BYOND gurus go...

Nadrew may not be the most discreet person (in fact, he is very far from it) and he may not be the most committed or hardest working (likewise) but when it comes to knowhow and experience under his belt, Nadrew ranks with the best of them. He's done a good deal of fine work and there is no reason to get 'consto' over his reply. Needless to say, I am too busy to commit time or effort to your DBZ project, but I do hope you get somebody good to make a decent DBZ game (since it seems like DBZ-SPAR will never come back out.)

What are you talking about? Since when was this an issue with Nadrew?

Nadrew, I respect your leveling system and your other works. I just wanted coding gurus to offer help, thats all. Theres no need to be so angry with me.

Anywayz, I'm not gonna post messages in here nymore, if you guys just (English slang)-> skit me and say my ideas are ****.

Many of these 'idiots' are C++/VB programmers (no such thing as 'experts' because the technology and programming theories are constantly changing), so by calling them names shows your lack of professionalism. You need not rise to the bait so easily...

Also, this should be posted in the 'Classified Ads' Section - not 'General'...maybe just a simple note here that references a classified ad post would be more appropriate...

If no one likes DBZ then why are there so many games here?

I wouldn't say that *no one* likes DBZ - heck I'm 34 and I like it - but because of the recent popularity in the US and Europe it seems that every game-player/junior programmer/DBZ fanatic that comes to BYOND ends up trying to create either a low-quality version based on the game-tutorial demo, or they modify a copy of someone else's game.

There are not 'so many [DBZ] games here'. Yes, a search for 'DBZ' in the Games Listing reveals over 150 dbz-related games, but most are in Alpha/Beta stages - quite a few are just a series of half-hearted attempts at game-making. Some may never be completed! This does not apply to all DBZ-games here, or course...many DBZ games actually have some good standing...

It is this flood of poor-to-modest quality of 'fan-games' that has driven many of the serious programmers away from DBZ - most kids are too impatient to really sit down and learn develoment and design and programming properly to be able to turn out a quality game that really stands out above the rest.

I think if there were more professional requests for help in complicated areas of programming (building a comprehensive battle system, for example), and less 'SOMEONE HELP ME! I WANT A DBZ FIGHTING SYSTEM!', more programmers would take the time to assist the newer people...

All that aside, Radditz34, how much are you willing to pay for a 'professional C++/VB/BYOND programmer'? I'm currently about $40/hour - and that is probably the low end of the scale for seasoned programmers... I believe I could do it - but my full-time job takes precedence. I could only work an hour or two each evening...

If you want the work for free, you may end up waiting a long time because programmers have to eat too. In fact, I believe that the time used up in waiting for the right programmer to come around, you would have gained enough BYOND experience to develop the game exactly how you wanted - and have the added satisfaction of doing it yourself!

I guess you're right, but that still doesn't make things any easier for me.

Byond is a good rpg system but has many faults;

1. fighting games are immpossible
2. Coding takes ages to correct if you make a mistake.
3. Byond is one of the worst names I ever heard

Theres only easy solution to this;

If anyone knows a programming language that is easy to work with, has online capabilities and is totally free.
Speak now, or forever hold your peace

havn't you noticed all the DBZ games are genesis? and all the owners have dbz keys?
and all of them spam games.
and all of them like to threaten to hack.
and all of them are around the age of 11
and all of them like to say there the best programmers "even with there DBGT Genesis Rip-Offs"
Hey, you got a dbz-key to! what do yah know!
i Don't know about other people, but i, personnaly am tired of it.
R.J.T his game, says somthing different then AF and genesis, i enter it, it has RPGmaker icons, and its genesis codeing, statpanels all the same, everything all the same, and he says he used only 5 lines of code.
try 5 .dms
its people like him that make the majority of the people of BYOND not like DBZ.
im not trying to be rude, but some people with DBZ Keys are nice, i ain't got a problem in the world with them.
but others are just imature.
Also, what i dont think is nice, is how some people before even getting to know the "dbz key person" start judgeing how he is. and pushing him away. then when the "dbz key" person gets mad, they think Well wow! isnt this just like all dbzers?
They dont relalize there making this happen.
im not going to name names, but ive seen it happen, in games, and on Forums.
here is alittle story of 1 insodent with me, some person by the name of SSJ4 Majin Trunks i believe it was, anyways. my Final Fantasy Online game, was being hosted by my honored host Dragon133, and i got a page from SSJ4 Majin Trunks, saying i got your source.
i said, what no you dont.
he rambled on for about 20 minuets of how he has the source and how he is goona use it and give it to people.
so i said, ok, give me the party walk to code.
so he gave me this long code, that had nothing to do with a walk to code.
so i told him,
No, my walk to code is simply walk_towards(usr, null)
so he starts freaking out.
Next thing you know, he starts spamming.
not to logn after that, im getting threatened to be "Hacked"
So, i said in the chat, "i regret saying it but by this time i was beggining to get annoyed"
How stouped are you? you got a god dam dbz key and your threatening to hack me? grow up kid and get the hell outa my game.
so i banned him.
then came the pager spam.
then i blocked him.
thats just alittle story of 1 Bad-Dbzer heh
But bassically wat im getting at and i know i went Alot off topic, is some dbers are cool, others arnt, and the reason were all tired of DBZ is cause of the genesis crap, if that never started, i sure wouldnt care. but it did, so i do.
Also, if you wanna keep this thread going, direct it to babble, Capish!

Nope, just advanced

2. Coding takes ages to correct if you make a mistake.

Not if you have experience.

3. Byond is one of the worst names I ever heard

No it's not you're just weird =P

That's right about where you're screwed. BYOND is the only online gaming system that offers this level of graphical/user-powered enviroment. Without having to code your own online system which is a pain in the butt.

and is totally free.

C++ is totally free if you want to spend 6 years learning it and going to classes on it. Then coding your own online server type dealy so you can play the games online.

Speak now, or forever hold your peace

Done!

Well...you are almost right. There is RPGMaker - a fairly solid game-making system that would do what Radditz wants without having to code too much (I spent a year with it before discovering BYOND - I wanted *more* control!). But I do not recall if they have added on-line support yet...

and is totally free.

C++ is totally free if you want to spend 6 years learning

The real cost, no matter what the platform, is time...

Yeah, but I dont want an RPG.

I want a fighting game.

I forgot to add online capibility to my list, which if memory serves me RpgMaker doesn't have.

Yep Nadrew, why do you think he left?

If you are not willing to take the time to learn BYOND competently, or not willing to wait for the right programmer to arrive (a free one atleast), try these links:

http://www.the3dgamemaker.com/ - but not free
http://www.3drad.com/ - available in free and not-so-free versions, free version is nice to work with
http://www.angelfire.com/geek/falcon/rpgmaker/ - good pics of non-rpg battle sequences in RPGMaker...
http://simrpg.cjb.net/ - for tactical fighting and rpg games
http://www.darkbasic.com/ - another game creator
http://www.gamedev.net/reference/start_here/ - good articles on game development languages
http://www.programmersheaven.com/zone8/ - good game development links (including VB)
http://dmoz.org/Games/Game_Design/ Development_Tools_and_Software/ - more game development links (including BYOND!)

...and more through your favorite search engine! (the above came out of Google after 5 minutes of searching...)

Well, wow, those sites sounded cool, but they were all ****. sorry man, thanks for trying anywayz
In response to Nadrew
I've used the SimRPG and its not that bad for beginning. They just need to add more things and you could make a shining force actually like the real one. Another thing is I leave dbz people alone and they leave me alone.

Why were they all ****? I would think at the least that 3d Rad would be what you are looking for - I've seen some excellent Quake3-like fighting games (come to think of it, there is a DragonBall Z port to the Quake2 game engine - http://www.dragonballquake.net/)

You got to expect to do *some* of the work - especially if you do not have money for hiring programmers...
