I am posting this for chat, as How you were brought into the community.

I recall the first time hearing of BYOND. I never imagined i would be coding it.
At first my friend Matt *Kazell, Kaiser*, and Ronn *Ronn*, asked me if I would be interested in testing a graphical DBZ mud. I was excited and said sure *This GMUD was DBZ NN*, and this was about June, 2001.
As i downloaded this and started to play, i was amazed, as i was hooked on programming and playing Text Muds over Hyperterminal *AAH THE GOOD OL' DAYS*. and a few months later, Both of my friends have quit, along with my pal Haroki. And i am now a game maker, What fun.

P.S, This was a spur of the moment memory relapse.

My friend, Magnum_ . He told me about DWO so i wanted to play it, so i got it
This is a good question, and one that i have never really thought about that much.

I had always wanted to make a game but never really found a way to do it. Every night I would search the internet for new games, or new ways to make a game. My endless searches never really found me much, maybe a game for me to play a few hours then delete. Then one night i found BYOND. I downloaded it, figuring I would just delete it the next day. After i messed around with it for a couple hours i thought i had really found something. After a couple months i looked into some of the programming tutorials and I am now a byond programmer. Maybe this was a little much, but I am oh so bored, and just need to rant a little. Thanks for listening.

Well, I was a wee old lad. About "yay" high. And twas in the dbz scene at the time, my sonny.

Anyways, DBZ-SPAR and DBEO were the reasons I came here. Then I made the first next-gen DBZ game (DBZ: Elite) but I didn't want to make dbz games anymore so I just started doing other shiznito. The only reason I came here was to play DBZ-SPAR and DBEO and they were both in closed beta so I decided to make my own. Then the dissapointment of both games was just heart-breaking when they came out. DBZ-SPAR was a mess and so was DBEO. I thought..."this is what I came to BYOND for?"

But oh well. I'm here ain't I?

I came to BYOND looking for something that would allow me to build a multi user text world. I found it, and once I figured out the basics of BYOND I thought it was the best thing in the world as far as game creation goes. That lasted a precious few days before the endless swarms of DBZ games and "less intelligent people" arrived. After that, BYOND has mostly been a waste of my time. But then, as it turns out, it's not like I had anything better to do.

Now I just hang around BYOND for the sake of making a bit of money off graphics, and because it occasionally gives me something to do and provides a drawing board when I've got wild ideas that need to be expressed in code.
Well I first found out about DUNG when they posted a message about Night Soil on the Rogue-like News Page. Then Dantom renamed DUNG and of course that's what brought me in the BYOND community.
Hmm a friend of mine at where I use to work, knew I was already a game developer working in C/C++ Win32API with DirectX. He found a link to the Dragon Warrior Online game from a message board posting. Which when he found this site came and mention it to me. I didn't really care that much since it was 2nd tile, and I already had my own tile map engine using DirectX and C++. But once night around halloween I was bored so I decided to log on and check it out. Afterworks I started looking at the games and code and decided to start working on my Epic RPG in BYOND which I later called, "Kemet". This game is still in production and is my primary game here at BYOND. Even though I haven't hosted it much lately I still plan to work on this game once I finish and release Star Traders.

So here I am now. I pretty much made Star Traders in 25 days, with the last 2 days spent mostly beta testing. Shows you what I can do when I mean business!

My Friend The Wizard of How AKA Jeremy
told me about this.
He heard from a guy in our text based DBZ RPG.
Thats it for me

I was made aware of BYOND through a member of my Yahoo! DBZ Club...

We have a no spamming policy on the board (all blatant ads are deleted whenever one of us founders sees them...and if it becoems a habit...we boot the offender)...

Anyways...a fairly new member began posting what we considered spam messages directing us to his BYOND devoted club... He put the spin on it of saying that there are tons of DBZ games to play (but cautiously added that there are too many...and the community here is starting to hate them...lol)

We "yelled" at him for doing so...and deleted the offending messages...

Just on a whim, though...I decided to come check it out...and since it was absolutely perfect for my needs, I stayed...
When I came here, it was all about 'DBZ online games'. One day I was searching at www.google.com (my ol' trusty search engine), and I found a website about DBZ-Spar. I saw a screen shot of it, and it looked really awesome, so I decided to try it out. Once I knew i had to download this thing called "BYOND" I was kinda bummed out, but I downloaded it anyway. I played DBZ-Spar for a bit, and not liking it that much, I went in search for plenty more DBZ games on BYOND *goes on telling his life story*. Which were not many (DBZ:NN, DBZ Elite, and DBZ Spar). Thats when i started wishing there were thousands of them *waits for people to blame him for the swarm of the dbz games*. And thats when I decided to make my own (and once I opened dream maker, i saw you had to code i was like, Awww i thought it was point and click :). Then came the swarms of DBZ games, along with my hate of them.

Well, theres my life story folks! :)

ITS YOUR FUALT, AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!
I was searching the web for a legally free and more versatile alternative to RPGmaker, which a lot of my friends were into at the time, when I came across something called DUNG. I kept it on my desktop for about a year and a half, fiddling around with it every once in a while, then decided to see if there were any updates and discovered DUNG had become BYOND.

why am i the only one who came as a loner to byond?
only game i can remember playing was Fantasy Quest Online with FIREking.
I think I was looking for a Silent Death Online replacement at http://www.mpogd.com/ and ended up with a link to BYOND. I was about to create a mud codebase anyway. I figured I'd take advantage of BYOND network code, graphic code, and the host offer which seemed to end right after I joined.

My step bro. told me about it and I made fun of BYOND and laughed at him and everything, he is like me now and thinks its stupid and thinks it will never amount of everything, and I have not left since. Its really an impressive program I think.

I was looking for a DBZ game on Yahoo! and I found DBZ epic. I got to BYOND from there.
My next door neighbor told me to come and check it out, when i got here i was disgusted at the amount of DBZ games and grew a hate for them very quickly, after then i started learning to code with help from my friend, Clonegoku(*Ack! dbz name lol*)who taught me alot of things he had learnt, i now enjoy creating Graphics for games along with coding, and now my Graphics are availible for download at:

A small sample is in the hub icon.
