The movie rocks! Watch it! The only beef I had was the battle at the end. Its too...generic. One side wins, the the other side wins, then the one that was losing at first wins it all... I would have loved to see a big ass even fight.

Is it really that good? I thought about it, then saw scorpion king instead. I didnt think it would be all that good. On another note though, the Scorpion King was excellent, well it was if you like senseless killing of tons of palace guards by 2 people.

It is VERY GOOD. I give it a 4.8 out of 5 stars!

Ill have to go see that, after i see star wars that is.

Yes, I can't wait to see Star Wars: Episode II. I'm dying to see more of the character Anakin Skywalker as he evolves from a young but headstrong idealist to a Welsh bodybuilder with the voice of CNN.
How was the geek factor?

Part of the coolness of Spider-Man was Peter having to use his knowledge of science to create new kinds of webshooter ammo. The organic webshooters sicken me. However, since I like Sam Raimi, I'm willing to give it a chance.

All changes are annoying to comic purists, but the change from using genius to using a fit body is more disgusting than usual. This is not merely a visual change like Wolverine's costume. It's a change in super powers that needs to make up for the themes it craps on.

Does the movie show him as a geek or merely an awkward heartthrob for teenyboppers to drool over?

Spider-Man was far and away the best comic book movie I've ever seen (assuming you don't get all artsy on me, and make the claim that The Matrix was a comic book movie). It absolutely ROCKED.

With that said, there were two minor things which irked me (one of which was NOT the organic webshooters)...

1.) The Green Goblin's mask. I won't be the first or last to make this comparison, but it looked like the mask of a Power Rangers villain. I don't mind that they have to change things around for the sake of taking the story from one medium to another... but when Spidey and the Goblin are talking, it'd be nice to see SOME modicum of expression on at least ONE of their faces. Since you can't muck with Spidey's mask, the Goblin's mask should've been the more revealing one.

2.) Tobey McGuire as Spider-Man. Don't get me wrong... he was EXCELLENT as Peter Parker. But he was merely good as Spidey. It's always been my take that the Spider-Man "alter-ego" was supposed to be somewhat liberating for Parker... that's why he's a milquetoast geek outside the costume, but a smart-aleck when he's in it. That didn't come across for me in the movie. Not enough Spidey witicisms. And McGuire's warbly voice and somewhat understated acting don't exactly lend itself to the persona either. As much as I hate to say it, maybe he should've taken a lesson from Willem Dafoe and hammed it up a bit more when he was behind the mask.

Making that claim isn't getting artsy so much as getting contentious... the story is that the Matrix was based on (but not credited to) an actual comic book. I don't remember which comic book, but I think it was one of DC's Vertigo line.

Oh half way ruin the end for us, J/k. I rented the game and its ok. If the story is the same whats the point in going and seeing the movie?
In response to Jotdaniel
In the theater I went to, everyone cheered when the Star Wars trailer came on, ended, and then after every other trailer until the movie. Cheered or clapped. Even on that animated movie "Spirit" or whatever, ugh, it sickens me!

Of course, the movie was great. It had more humerous edge to it than most other suphero movies. But I remember from the TV show (can't remember seeing it in the comic...) that the Green Goblin threw exploding mini-pumpkins. I think that just emphasizes the insanity of him, but oh well.

Never fear...

Sequels, sequels, sequels...

Well, they had to applaud for Star Wars, and after that, if they didn't applaud for the other trailers, the other movies' feelings would be hurt.

Okay, so, finding out that it ends with a battle scene in which one side wins ruins the movie for you? When Titanic came out, were you surprised that the boat sank?
