I just saw the movie tonight, and wanted to post about it... But didn't feel like digging up the old thread...lol Plus, the thing was getting rather long and would have taken up too much space on the board if I bumped it...lol
Anyways... The movie was awesome... It gave me chills when Spidey first started swinging through Manhattan... Beautifully done...
The effects were great, the casting was great, the script was even great...
They didn't make Spider-Man into the usual stupid, naive "hero"... They stuck with his true personality of being intelligent... He really didn't make any stupid moves... And some of the strategies he came up with in various parts of the movie were ingenious... Like he was actually thinking... Unlike most comic book movies...lol Hell...unlike most movies in general...lol
I didn't just watch this movie... I experienced this movie...

Yeah, those are kind of interesting to read... But in all reality, none of them were noticeable enough to ruin my enjoyment of the movie...so I really don't care...lol
And besides, every single movie or television show that has ever been made contains these types of errors... Most of them are due to the nature of filming and editing... Most scenes have to be shot multiple times until they get it just right (acting-wise)... Little details like where someone is holding their arms, or what hand their prop is in can easily get muddled in the process... And when editing things together, you end up with changing details between scenes... It happens all the time... They really can't afford the time or effort to monitor every little detail to make sure that nothing screws up...lol As for the other kind of "errors" that I noticed on there... The kind like the one where they mention that the Green Goblin should have taken off Spidey's mask, or that the school students who saw the lunchroom scene would have spoken up when the Bugle asked for info on Spider-Man... Little nitpicking things like that I really don't agree with... Just because it makes sense to you that something should happen like that...doesn't mean that it necessarily would work out that way... Especially in the context of having a good plotline...lol If Peter would have been given away to the Bugle by one of his classmates, then that would ruin the whole movie...and any other made after it...lol We can't have his identity getting out like that... No matter if it makes sense or not... So most of the stuff in that list really doesn't bother me in the least... Like I said, it didn't ruin the experience for me...so who cares? There is one "error" that I picked up... On the soundtrack is a Sum 41 song, "What we're all about" (or something like that...I can't remember the exact title)... It's a very cool punk rock song (the video can be seen on MTV...and I like it)... But it's playing on the radio in Uncle Ben's car when he drops Peter off at the library... Why is a Sum 41 song playing on the radio in their car? Does anyone think that Uncle Ben would listn to that type of station, let alone that song? And Peter really doesn't seem like the type, either... So what's it doing on their radio? lol |

Just because it makes sense to you that something should happen like that...doesn't mean that it necessarily would work out that way... This I totally agree with. My roommate (who, ironically enough, prides herself vocally on her ability to put herself into other people's shoes) doesn't get this at all... to her, a story is completely unrealistic if everyone on screen doesn't make the same choices as she would make. She even extends it to things that aren't necessarily a choice. For instance, in Season 5, Episode 1 of Buffy TVS, when Buffy was enthralled by Dracula, he repeated a line from her dream in the Season 4 finale. My roommate said, "This is so stupid. If it was me he was mind-controlling, I would've been so shocked at hearing that it would've broken the mind control." This ranks right up there alongside her tendency to describe everything in terms of Vampire: The Masquerade. It used to be only other vampire movies and stories. Now, when I'm trying to watch Justice League, I have to hear about how much blood Flash must be burning to use that much "celerity". You might think this has nothing to do with Spider-man, but in fact, I'm cringing in anticipation of hearing about how much "potence" Spider-man has when we go and see the movie this weekend. Thankfully, the good folks at White Wolf don't appear to have known any archaic words for sticking to things or shooting out webs, but I'm sure she'll note his good use of the cocooning skill anyway. |

Yes, but in her opinion (I'm not sure what the rules say about this), since they can burn blood, they should be able to gain Vampire disciplines.
Her estimates of her own stats are ridiculous. It doesn't help that her former gaming circle was one where everyone took turns running the game and was of the pat-each-other-on-the-back variety. In their "based on real life" campaign, they routinely estimated each other's skills and proficiencies at level 10 or higher. (For those who don't know, in White Wolf, the practical limit of human achievement is 5... anything 6 or higher is superhuman or supernatural.) |

I once saw an author on a panel about relationships with creative people...he said his wife could only discuss his stories by relating them to Star Trek stories. "Oh, that's like episode 13 when..." Perhaps you have the better deal. |

"We need to revamp our hyperform wave generator to emit a low-band ionic disruption pulse, thereby causing the lifeform's outer corona to fuse." "Ah, like spraying shellac on wood." "Exactly!" "Yes... Captain, that may just work. If we can immobilise the entity long enough, we may be able to destroy it with a spread of megadynamic fusion particles." "Then by all means, Lieutenant, get right on it." "Yes, sir." |
