That would actually explain a lot... but doesn't explain why you would trust him with your password, why you didn't change your password earlier and tell people what was happening, etc. I'm not going to disagree with anyone who wants to hold you responsible for anything that was done with your key.

[Edit]i also just changed my password so anything bad that happens from now on you can blame me for...

That it's a friend of yours doesn't surprise me a lot; it's a theory I considered likely from time to time, but I always thought it was a lot more likely that they were all just you.

But as Lexy said, you're still going to be held responsible for what he did. I don't see how any of this isn't your fault anyway, especially since you kept silent while he was running amuck.

He's a bit extreme at times, but overall he's pretty cool and definately a decent guy.

I am glad you think of me as a decent guy ^_^

I know about my extremity at times and that I am working on, to be honest I am not as extreme as I used to be ^_^ -- Thus a good point of me now hehe.

I wouldn't mind moderating the forums and I would keep my word for keeping them clean and tidy, if this was a case of me moderating. But I highly doubt I would ever be a moderator here.

Seing as there are many more, what to say...better people that could do the moderating alot better than I could.

Not to mention, I would have to be in trusting relationship with Dan and Tom (Not relationship as in lovers -- Just stating this so no one gets at me for saying this :P Just a relationship as a trusted companion).

With all due respect, if Sariat and GreenDice became the moderators I'd find a new forum.

Hey hey hey...

Lets not get a flamed thread here ok. Thats the last thing we need.

So lets just get along here. Its not like we are going to ger moderators for definite now are we? The go ahead has not gone threw and to be quite honest with you all...Its Dantom's decision on who will moderate. Not us.

There will definitely be moderators; Dantom have had that in the works for a while. But you're right--it is their decision who ends up with the job.

One thing you can be sure of: GreenDice isn't going to make the cut.

Now that I know that I feel alittle more enlightened now seing as I thought that there wasn't really going to be any moderating that will be taking place. Oh well, at least when this moderating is in the forum will hopefully be a nicer and cleaner environment for everyone ^_^

I just hope too many people are not chosen, not to mention that too many moderators can tend to be quite a turn-down as alot of people tend to think this:

"Lots of moderators -- Too much fighting/Bickering"

Well, I used to think that, but I was more brought to the point that not all forums are like that. Most are like this, but still. Its better not to have "too" many.

My understanding is that it will happen very soon now.

My hope is that it will be more than just a handful, because then a lot of abuse will slip through the cracks. I think, though, that for any group of moderators of any size to get along, they'll have to generally agree on a hands-off policy toward each other and let each moderate in their own style--within reasonable limits of course. This is the kind of thing they'll have to hammer out themselves once they get a feel for how the new system works.

It's been my experience that a good set of moderators don't interfere much with each other, even if they have drastically different styles. (Of course, that's in a chat environment, where real-time reaction is important and often there's a "ranking op" around to defer to. So it's a little different.) Some people are such minimalists that they almost never act except in the most extreme cases, while others take a firm hand instructing newbies about netiquette. The key, I think, is to agree on a set of minimal things everyone can concede need to be done by somebody: In the case of these forums, those things might be deleting threads that are obviously meant to be flamewars, moving threads posted in the wrong place, deleting cross-posted or double-posted threads, etc.

This should be very good then seing as the sooner the bickering and what not is gone the better and more peaceful the community will come and this will mean a better learning place for people again ^_^

Well, when there are moderators, they can have a set of rules that Moderators/Dantom split the moderating into sections -- Say we get a fair handful of 6+ and then moderating gets split up so certain people help a certain group of people while another set of moderators help others. Plus, depending on timezones we could have set duties upon the forum. (The moderators being on as often as they can and when they get the chance to be here, check up on things, post what is needed and still get on with original life on the forums) Not to mention all the normal talking that can still happen.

But, I think it might be easier for the moderating to be split, if not, it is a pretty good idea to take into consideration don't you think?

The moderators aren't paid, so they have no incentive to be here as often as they can. The goal of having moderators is usually just to make use of people who are somewhat around and trustworthy. Thus having too few of them is a bad thing.

No, I don't. What you're talking about would involve scheduling people to moderate or limiting them to specific forums or such, and as such it's a ridiculous idea. The loopholes involved would be horrendous, and it'd pretty much eliminate any strength there is in numbers while still having the all worst aspects of having a whole bunch of moderators. (Personal conflicts would still exist at the same level, but having the benefit of someone always being around to take care of things wouldn't be a given.)

What I personally suspect is that the number of moderators will be greater than a handful, probably comparable in number to the op roster in my chat.

I didn't intend on that...Sorry for that.

Thanks for telling me this ^_^

Now I learned some more news today ^_^

Well, no I know that that is a bad idea I know not to do it in the future if I ever fully make usage of a forum like I do now. (To my own extent that is)

What I personally suspect is that the number of moderators will be greater than a handful, probably comparable in number to the op roster in my chat.

Well, overall, I got more or less all of my idea wrong :D

Too bad for me hehe, oh well, at least the bad points of my idea was told to me ^_^
