LOL, but not entirely true - only for regions near major communities. Most of the time people were just trying to survive without Cable TV, and Jerry Springer...

It would be interesting to see a game/sim based on the real medieval times - probably boring most of the time though...

it's the chalenge. I live for a chalenge, in anything!! If it's fighting to whatever, but in a sense that your life is on the line there is not that many better chalenges. Online you can risk your life (although fake life) to try to smite your opponent. It's all for the chalenge baby!! OowwwWW!!!!

Why does virtually every medieval fantasy game in existance focus on fighting?

Profit, Profit, Profit! Most people who look for games are looking for games that allow you to kill others or harm them (Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Quake 3, Duke Nukem, Medal of Honour, ect. are all good examples of major sellers even though they are not medeivel).

You should take into consideration the best selling game of 1999.

Want to know what it was? RollerCoaster Tycoon. Not a hair of killing others or harming them in there, unless the player is deeply sadistic and drowns guests or builds rollercoasters designed to crash. Most people will try those things at least once, of course, but the overall focus of the game is not violence, the violent things you can do will almost assuredly end your theme park career, and it's still one of the most popular games on the planet.

Another of the most popular games was the revamped version of Frogger. (It shows that people buying computer games never read reviews first, too, since the game is considered to be one of the worst of all time by the reviewing community.)

Besides, what is wrong with fighting?

Foomer doesn't like violence, and I respect that. I don't like violence either. (The thing I don't really understand is why he claims simulated violence is the same as real violence.)

Yes, while that is correct, the best selling genre's include fighting. Instances are Final Fantasy (They even include a great frickin' plot, cool moves, and plot twists!), Tekken, Marvel vs. SNK (never played it, but played Marvel Vs. Capcom), Morrowind (Great storyline too!), James Bond Goldeneye, and many others. But it is true that there are unique twists which are best sellers and highly awaited games, such as Project Ego for Xbox (I'm going to get it), Dance Dance Revolution (I recently got Konamix and just about unlocked all the songs), and the sims which their main goal isn't about fighting.

Why most games are violent is because its human nature to want to kill things and watch there insides spew over everywhere so Video games are just kinda a way for humans to get rid of some of there violent nature.
