Music works much the same way, but there is one catch: BYOND only supports MIDI format. That means any good MODs or (legal) MP3s you might have are out of the picture. Lummox JR |
umm i know i should have started a new topic but its related closely.....here is my delima i dont know what the #%$@ a midi file is (pethetic huh) ive created rpgs before with the O.H.R.RPG.C.E. and i've heard the term a million times but i hjust dont know what the hell they are lol

Hey, Surgy.
I used to use the OHRRPGCE, too, until I came upon Byond. It was just way more suited for what I wanted... Anyways, did you ever go to the Zantetsuken OHRRPGCE message boards? I usually hang around there, even though I'm technically not making a game using the darn thing anymore. BTW, a midi file is a soundfile usually (always) used for music. It has a smaller file size because instead of being like a wav file or an mp3, it uses premade instruments off of the soundcard of the listener. It still sounds good (when made by a skilled composer that is used to midi's) and takes up MUCH less space than a mp3. (usually about 60k as opposed to 4000k with an mp3) The only draw back is that, because it uses preselected instruments, playing an actual song off the radio isn't possible. But, I wouldn't want actual songs like that in a game, would you? |

Look up the sound() procedure in the Reference, or the F1 help document.
