Okay, let me break it down ya, tune you in, get ya hooked up with the 411....
Guru: Can't be...errrm......errrmm.... well, they can't post what they feel like most of the time. (Well they can, but if they do, it will mostly be 'looked down upon')
Midbie: Pretty much can be whatever they want, perfection.
Newbie: Can be an idiot, or a cool new guy.
Midbies rule, if I get offered "guru status"(I hope not), can I deny it?

Midbie: Pretty much can be whatever they want, perfection. Oh, believe me, if that's what you think, you're sorely mistaken. =P I've had to restrain myself from deleting posts you make on multiple occasions. Speaking bluntly and honestly, you often make irrelevant, well, crap. No offense. That's the truth. |

Hey , I don't mind, I don't get my panties up in a bundle like some of these people.

Guru: Can't be...errrm......errrmm.... well, they can't post what they feel like most of the time. (Well they can, but if they do, it will mostly be 'looked down upon') Gurus are defined by two things, being well-experienced in DM programming (or at least a quick learner at it), and being a fairly long-time forumgoer. Failing that, they should be very familiar with programming in general. Most "guru" class people are quite open about saying exactly what they want. It's just that most of them somehow end up being allies with one another, so they're always in line to defend their fellow "elite coders". I'm not quite sure how that happens, it just does. But since they're generally all defending each other, it seems like they're all only saying what their "supposed to" in order to "fit in" with their peers. That's just not true. Midbie: Pretty much can be whatever they want, perfection. A "midbie" is someone who's been here long enough to know how not to tick off the oldbies. Since the "guru" class people make a fearsome opponent in web arguments because they're always defending each other, it's in the midbie's best interest to avoid getting into arguments with the oldbies until they become one themselves. Midbies are actually, usually, the least open about what they feel, since they've been around long enough to know what is expected of them to avoid the wrath of the gurus. Newbie: Can be an idiot, or a cool new guy. Newbies are are most open about what they feel, since they don't generally give a damn what the oldbies or midbies think. Newbies who stick around long enough to graduate from newbiesness into midbieness are not so open anymore. Midbies rule, if I get offered "guru status"(I hope not), can I deny it? "Guru status" is something that is earned from being experienced in DM AND a long-time forumgoer OR a long-time programmer in general. You don't fit into the requirements for "guru status" because, as you've said, you're not very good with DM. So, you'll have to be stuck at the midbie stage until you sit down and learn to code better :o) Of course, there is always the infamous "Moderator" class. Even guru/oldbie class people are weak against moderators, because if you argue with a moderator, he can just slap a big red X on your argument after telling you to shut up. Even more powerful than the "Moderator" class is the almighty (as far as BYOND space goes) "Dantom" class. Only Dan and Tom get to be part of the Dantom class. They're so fearsome because they have the power to add and remove moderators at a whim, and even utterly destroy forumgoers and BYOND users if they so choose. To put it simply, unless you want to get axed, don't mess with the Dantom class. |

me either, someone says something i dont like, i ignore it.... i think everyone should, there are some occassions where ignoring it isnt the proper course of action, but as far as name calling goes, it should just be ignored... if those people want to call you names, and voice their opinions about you, let them, just because someone says something about you, doesnt mean its true!
i need to learn how to properly structure my sentences. one of these days... |

Heh, yeah, I'd like to get better at DM. But still don't have the boat ready to go over to the next island. *does a dramatic reinactment on a couch*
And as for Dantom, if they want some of Hot Headed Flamer, they can meet me in the middle of the ring, no holds barred, falls count anywhere.... IF YA SMELLLLLLLL *chokes, coughs, farts* O....k..... -ST |

i dont agree with what you say in general...
if you are not voicing how you actually feel, then you are just a fake person, you have an empty body, a nothing, a nobody, a sheep... i say whatever i want, and whatever i feel. |

I usually shrug off crap, but if it becomes a regular thing, I fight back.
Like at school, this guy was messing with me (first few weeks there(I came into the school 2nd six weeks)... I just thought he was Hazing me, so I shurgged it off. One day, he was throwing something at me over and over, so I grabbed whatever he was throwing and threw it to the side and said "Okay, you can stop now." and he did it again. So then I said "Look ass, just stop that BLEEPitdy BLEEP BLEEP BLEEP before something BLEEPin' BLEEPs BLEEPed BLEEP". His ass stopped. S'all you gotta do. |

Very well said! Um, except for the fact that you never once in that paragraph evince any disagreement with anything Foomer actually said. He says that midbies try not to tick people off, and gurus defend each other... how is either of those things "being fake?" That's just trying to get along with people. And if trying to get along is being fake, well... I quote:
someone says something i dont like, i ignore it.... i think everyone should You big fake! |

I'm with Spuzzum on this one.
Personally I think you're the type who gets too comfortable around a group, then mistakes good-natured fooling around with just plain obnoxious behavior. The difference is that people who get to know each other well tend to practice some respect, and goof off only within the limits they've come to know. Yet you seem to be of the mindset that you're just so well established that you can be as flippant as you want. You should know that Spuzzum's not the only one who's sick of it. Lummox JR |

Yup, thats it, you got me all figured out. Actually I was talking about you being flippant and obnoxious, which is more or less what Spuzzum was talking about too. He referred more to the general content, or lack thereof, of your postings, but it falls under the same umbrella. The issue has been, shall we say, discussed. I believe I'm voicing a consensus, or something significantly close to one. And this all relates to what you said about people doing whatever they want. It's clear that you are in fact doing that, but I think for a while now you've stopped observing more and more tenets of respect while doing so. Lummox JR |

Oh, just becase people are "Guru"'s they can do things that I can't. If I go off-subject, everybody gets on my [you know the deal] about it. But as you and Spuzzum just did.... its not even worth a crap.

I call it "changing a little to get along". It prevents arguments and disagreements. It doesn't limit your personallity or expression, accept expression in a bad way.

Yes, you could..its called flaming them to death till they don't offer it no more, on second thought..Don't do that, just say no? But uh..nevermind.
