Well, i notice alot of americans think we say Aboot. I dont hear anyone say aboot. Rather none for that matter.
But i do, hear canadians say eh
Along with americans.
So, bassically the weird things canadians say are
- Eh
- wayy up north about 2% population of canada say (Aboot)
I have traveled in the states, and i been to many places in Canada. I couldn't realy tell them apart. Except in some places in America, they say rof, instead of roof. Make it sound like a dog.. rof...rof.. Lol Anyways, i like Canada & American equal. To me, they are one!

I don't know about no accent, but there is the "TV news" accent, good ol' Midwestern mild vanilla. It's funny, but people who want to be on CNN have to pay money to learn how to talk like I do. That's why there's so many call centers in Omaha, NE.

But I've never accused Canadians of saying "aboot". Having been to Canada quite a few times, I've heard them say "aboat". It actually comes out more like "aboaut"; there's just way too much O in there. The proper pronunciation would be ou as a very fast blend of "ah-oo", but in Canada it's more frequently "oh-oo". I've never met anyone who's actually heard the Canadian accent and thinks it's "aboot", though. There's no equivalent dipthong in the English language to describe the Canadian botch of "ou", but botched it is--in some places more than others; Ontario is particularly bad with that. Lummox JR |
