Yes! It tells me you need to learn English yourself! :-p

...i still think its stupid to have some many, it just
makes it harder to find what i need...

Ye gods! How hard is it to recognize your own language? By the age of 12, I could recognize 6-7 different languages by site even if I did not understand what was said. I've never had trouble finding English. If it is so difficult then you might consider extra lessons in comprehension...

i mean english is the number 1 most spoke language, so
why should people who speek it have to learn 50 milloin
others in school...

Because such knowledge not only improves your own language skills, but you also learn how to respect other cultures and their interpretations of the world. Such understanding makes life a heck of a lot easier...

i for one am not taking spanish, im taking german...

Good for you- but it would be better to take a language you actual would put to use! Do you intend on living or traveling to Germany often? Since the second most spoken international language is probably a toss-up between Spanish, Chinese, or Japanese (just by volume of native-speakers alone) I would think these languages would be more useful to you in the future...

Here in Germany, the kids must take two languages too, and more often than not it is English and Spanish, English and French, or English and Russian.

My girlfriend's son, Daniel, is 13 and speaks fluent German and English - far better than the majority of people here (regardless of age), I might add - and is progressing into Spanish during the next few years.

[Mexicans learning English...]It would make american-mexican relations better.

Not necessarily - forcing a lesser economy to conform to the language of a greater economy often breeds contempt for the 'big brother' when he holds out on somethings that other economies take for granted. If you understood their language and their culture as well as your own, you would be in a better position to help that culture where needed - *not* change it into yours.

Why do you make it sound like i hate mexicans, and cant speak english. Now its not making them conform, its called helping them by adding better school systems, teaching them things they need to know to get anywere in life, one of those things is learning english. So why dont your understand what im saying before you start running your mouth.

[edit]
and why would speaking spanish be a help to me in the job market? Wouldn't a lesser spoken language be more of an asset to a buisness.

Only if that business has a need for someone that speaks German... And that will only happen if they deal with a lot of German customers...

But since the Spanish speaking market is so far greater than the German speaking market, then dealing with Spanish speaking customers will be seen as much more important...because it will yeild more sales...

So perhaps a rare ability like speaking German will be seen by some companies as valuable... But chances are that someone with the more productive ability to speak Spanish would be chosen first...

oh ha, but if i go into a drafting currer than i will have lots of use for it. Most of the tools made for draft(ex.engeneer) is made in germany. And i plan on something like that.

I wonder how dumb a person has to be to have to read a sign that tell them something is slippery when wet.

But that is like saying you should learn Japanese because you use Sony and Toshiba tools and products! Might as well learn Chinese and other Asian languages too, since the majority of tools built for industry are often made in that region.

Only if you intend to travel to Germany and spend many years there (as I am doing now) would it be necessary to learn German beyond the basic 'tourist'-level babble that they teach in schools. Because you are closer to Mexico and Canada, Spanish and French would server you far better. And far easier (German is one of the tougher languages to learn, just under Russian).

And, yes I will continue to jump on you (and others) for poor grammer and spelling - it is nothing personal. I tend to be a crusader against stupidity in various forms - sometimes I'm harsh, sometimes I'm gentle.

Seeing that you, Scoobert, have access to the internet far more often than many of your Mexican neighbors, there is absolutely NO reason for deliberate poor grammer and spelling. Not sure about a word? http://www.dictionary.com/

You say we should help others - a fine ideal! But if you do not (or cannot) write properly, who are you to try and help others in the same capacity? Granted, I am not a perfect example myself, but I always try to take the time to make sure I am understood correctly (often over-doing it I'll admit).

Set an example - take the time to write correctly. Then you will be able to help others. Anything less is just plain laziness...
